Dinobots

Postby Mattamus Prime » Tue Oct 30, 2007 11:26 am

I'm not sure I'm capable of believing that they can pull off the Dinobots though. I'm a little skeptical about anyone turning into an "animal like"... but I loved scorpinok. I mean... Blackout choses a helicopter, Scorpinok chose a scorpion... who new.

But in the four part prequel comic Scorpinoc looks the same... like he didn't even have a protoform??? What's up with that?

After watching the special features again last night I am 99.9% certain they will introduce Soundwave this time... I hope they do.

My top three are Devestaror, Soundwave, Shockwave, and Cyclonis on the decepicon side.

For the Auto bots... Prowl, Cliffjumper, Wheeljack, and some kind of fire truck bad ass one:-)

Please tell me you were kidding?

If I see Wheely or Blur in this movie I will boycot the movie.

They were post TF Animated Movie and both very annoying... in my very strong opinion;-)

No. Not G1 all the way.

If you have G1 all the way, you have G1 all over again. I don't want that.

Yes, he was the first combiner. Does that make him the best? No. It makes him the first. But with Devestator getting multiple new toys every year and being featured in just about every comic and every third party bust or statuette, you'd get the impression that he's the ONLY combiner.

I wonder if the fandom will ever get tired of those same 12 G1 characters who just keep getting recycled. I know I have.

Postby Mattamus Prime » Tue Oct 30, 2007 1:11 pm

Hey I'm down for a Bruticus.... hell I'm down for some kind of Bruticus, Devestator, combo type character. I just WANT to see one of the combiners in TF#2... bad. Even if it's a new one they made up. I think it's the concept I like more than anything.

Menasor vs. Superion would be a sick fight in TF#2.

Even Menasor would be sick!!!!!

If it turns out that the writers are bringing the Dinobots into the next movie, I'd personally prefer that the Predacons (and, by that token, Predaking) be brought in as their foil. I think they'd make better opponenets for the Dinobots than the Constructicons and Devastator. I'd even settle for the Terrorcons as the Dinobot's priniciple rivals.

No Terrorcons

Postby Mattamus Prime » Tue Oct 30, 2007 1:48 pm

If they do decide to go the whole "animal way".... dinobots, predaking, whoever.... they would still need to look like earth creatures.

Terrorcons wen't introduced until Season 3 or 4 and all looked like weird alien monsters that resembled earth creatures in ways. Abomonus was sick.... but no way on the Terrorcons.... or Computron for that matter. All those vechicles looked like alien stuff too. I think you see where I'm going?

Who cares when they were introduced or what they looked like.

Get over the belief this is G1. IT'S NOT! It's a whole new mythology.

True... but...

Postby Mattamus Prime » Tue Oct 30, 2007 3:06 pm

True... but they are basing the movies "mostly" on G1 and G1 concepts... they've said that over and over... so get over that.

They've talked about it a ton of times. They referenced G1 all the way. So yes... you are correct... it is a new mythology. But the concepts, ideas, stories, and relationships are all centered around concepts from G1. AS IT SHOULD BE!!! AT LEAST IT SHOULD BE TO MAKE IT GOOD AND MAKE PEOPLE WANT TO ACTUALLY SEE IT.

What's your problem with G1? As far as I'm concerned... there was season 1 through 4 and the animated movie. All the rest were bull **** spin offs of the G1 cartoon. Beast Wars and all to follow were not nearly as good as the G1 cartoon. And it was the first to start everything up to this point.

Why do you think they aren't using Beast Wars and ****???

the movie should be "G1 based" all the way!!!

That doesn't mean all of it... that means MOST of it.

Actually I was corrected on this point just recently. If you go strictly by combiner technology then Reflector is the real first combiner. But if you are going strictly by gargantuan warrior machines then Devastator would be the first.

Nobody's got a problem with G1. It was cool back in the day and it's still cool now. What we're saying is that not everyone who is a Transformers fan grew up with G1. Some grew up with Beast Wars, some with RiD, some with the Unicron Trilogy. What the writers are trying to do is appeal to ALL of those people as well as introduce new fans to the Transformers mythology. True, there were references to G1 all throughout the movie, but Burn is right: this movie is an all new storyline, not G1 all over again. They certainly should draw upon G1 for ideas and characters, but they have several other series they can use, too. To limit yourself like that is a bad thing. Variety is good. Take a look at Scorponok, for instance. They used him because he was from both G1 and BW. That way they can appeal to at least two kinds of fans in that respect.

So, in short, the movies should not be based solely on G1, but it should have a definitive role in shaping the story.

A lot of people that are fans today that didnt grow up with G1 are fans because of Beast Wars. The Movie should not limit itself to just that 1 generation. It should pull from all aspects of the mytho's that has been around for almost 25 years.

Posts like these make me lose faith in the fandom...

Mattamus Prime wrote: True... but they are basing the movies "mostly" on G1 and G1 concepts....

G1 concepts like what? Transforming vehicles? I think that concept has come back once or twice in the franchise's history... geez...

Mattamus Prime wrote:they've said that over and over... so get over that.

Uh... no they haven't. In fact, the Hasbro panel at Botcon has said repeatedly that this is a new continuity, a new independant universe. It is not, never has been and never will be, a remake of G1.

Mattamus Prime wrote:They've talked about it a ton of times. They referenced G1 all the way. So yes... you are correct... it is a new mythology. As it should be? Statements like this make me physically ill. G1 was 20 years ago, it's done. Stop using G1 as a crutch for everything the franchise does. Transformers does not need a G1 precedence for everything. The concepts, ideas, stories and relationships you speak of are not strictly G1, they are strictly TRANSFORMERS, and can be applied to every other series.

Mattamus Prime wrote:What's your problem with G1? As far as I'm concerned... there was season 1 through 4 and the animated movie. All the rest were bull **** spin offs of the G1 cartoon. Bull **** spin offs? You mean like Beast Wars, the series that gave new life to a franchise that was going stale for lack of new ideas (mainly because it was too focused on past - like sadly many fans seem to be now - and couldn't be innovative? What was G2 but G1 in different colours?)

My problem with G1 is it seems to be all the fans ever think about. Ever. They just like the nostolgia and they lack perspective on new things. They believe unquestionnably that G1 = Good. I've had my fill of G1, with the endless toy hommages, comic books series, Alternators, Kiss Players, Titaniums, Robot Heroes, Classics (twice!), PVCs, busts, statuettes, plushies...

My problem is the fans who want innovation and new characters are drowning in an endless sea of Hot Rods, Devestators, Seekers and Ultra Magnuses (Ultra Magni?). Lots of great characters get ignored because, well, they don't make fans remember "the good old days".

That's my problem with G1. Many fans just want to live in their old memories, and are just too afraid to make new ones.

Mattamus Prime wrote:Why do you think they aren't using Beast Wars and ****???

Because Beast Wars is based on animals? You can't really have a movie on transforming animals when that branch of the franchise is not known to many. Besides, with a reality based movie series like this, realistic transforming animals would be very very difficult to do... and probably very gross to look at.

Disagree

Postby Mattamus Prime » Tue Oct 30, 2007 3:38 pm

The people who grew up with G2 and beyond should try to recognize that in order to make this movie series a good one... they would do the smart thing and not **** it up by using a whole lot of concepts beyond the G1 series... or even the animated Movie as far as I am concerned. It would be a disservice to the lore to loosely base these movies on concepts from all the Transformers. It all came from G1!

What am I even ranting about (oh it's becasue some people don't like G1)... it's not like I have to prove this. the Writers, Directors, Producers, and everybody helping them said most the concepts for this movie were based solely on the G1 cartoon and feedback from other nerds (like me), Hasbro, etc.

I mean come on people... you have to base these characters on the hear and now. You can't make it too crazy becasue it has to take place in the modern age.

Sorry... this movie is mostly G1 based... as it should be... PERIOD!!! Kudos to the writers, directors, and producers for bouncing off the feedback off people who actually do know the transformers lore backwards and forwards and still decided to go with the G1 ideas.

Peace!

I don't have a problem with G1.

I have a problem with people who think G1 is God's gift to Transformers and that anything else post G1 is irrelevant.

Guys(Burn and Skowl), This guy feels very strong in his opinion that it all should date back to 1984 and ignore evertything that has come since. Its his right to feel that way and let's leave it that. For the unevolved apes out there that think the franchise could stand to move away and into its own direction I say this: Our opinions don't matter to the purists.

p.s. I really hope I don't get into another p.m. argument because I'm a supernerd or something like that.

Hey, I noticed all those other pics of G1 characters and am blown away by them. Where do you find them?

Anyways, you could say I'm a G1 purist myself...well, then again maybe I'm not. I enjoyed Beast Wars, Beast Machines, and most definitely the Movie. Everything else isn't worth my time. I like how they did the movie using G1 as a guideline but created a whole new line. Does this entitle me to some criticism also? Burn, you strike me as someone who tends to say the right thing @ the right time...most of the time. But surely even you can respect someone else's opinions. I'm right there w/ Mattamus Prime, I do believe the G1 is God's gift to Transformers...w/out them Transformers wouldn't exist. We would be stuck crying over the destruction of Leader-1 and the invasion of Gobotron. Provided someone was smart enough to create them originally instead of ripping off Transformers.

Jesus Robinson are you still crying becasue I wouldn't return your last combative e-mail??? Well sorry bro... that's what happens when you pick fights on the internet. Let it go man. I'd rather talk about transformers than get into it with you.

And your last reply had nothing to do with the post... merely attacking me. So go away dude. And learn how to spell while you're at it. Evertything is spelled "Everything."

And like I said... if you have a problem with it... then why to you insist on replying to posts I leave. Change your name to the "Phantom Annoyance." You remind me of Episode 1. I'm going to start calling you Jar Jar for your annoying replies all the time.

Blackstreet... you da man! Everyone else gets so combative whenever I write ****. Everyone's got to be all mean about ****. I mean... trying to start dialog with some peeps is hard when as soon as you write something they don't even want to discuss it.. they just call you names trying to be the ulitmate fan or something.

Glad you asked... got the pics from http://www.jesterpictures.com cool ass ****. Dragon (fellow forum guy) hooked me up.

Robinson... what do I have to do to get you to GO AWAY? Good god man... let it go for f*** sake.

Hear, I will ask nicely... please go away!

And Blackstreet... I agree with you completely. I like beast Wars... but the movies being made have "guidlines" with G1 in mind.

I'm starting to think by liking G1 other fans get pissed becasue they feel the newer versions won't get their share of screentime. Maybe we purists threaten their existance;-)

Peace out!
