1st... Muppet babies came from muppets. You ever heard of the Muppet show? Jim Henson was a puppeteer, not a cartoonist.

2nd... I am not impressed, I am not lying and I am definitely not blind to this generic robot movie. Those robot bore no resemblance to anything I would call transformers. They look at much like a pile of walking trash as they did in the first screen shots except now they move. You can't tell which character is which half of the time except by their alt modes. I don't see why anyone would be excited about characters that can be interchanged with one another so easily. My complaints have nothing to do with the fact that they look CGI (which wouldn't be as much of a problem if they had kept them simple) or the plot having a bunch of holes in it. My complaints are confirmed by the fact that all the robots look generic. I like the fact that I can look at a G1 robot head and tell you the name of the character.

If this was a brand new movie like men in black meet the giant robots from space, I might be on board with this movie.

As it is right now, I have moved from "I might see it" to "I'll wait until it is shown on TBS", I won't even bother to rent it. Actually that is a complement since I won't bother to Tivo Cybertron.

How is "the robots look too cgi" a small thing? A month or so ago that was the primary reason people were bashing Jackson's King Kong on this forum and a major fault many people, professional critics included, find in the first 3 Star Wars prequels as well as Sci-Fi channel made-for-television films. They're visually interesting but the brief shots of the robots we've seen, notably Frenzy, Barricade and Ironhide, seem to lack real 'weight' to me for whatever reason. It helps aid my suspension of disbelief when I can't easily differentiate between a rendering and an animatronic prop, like in Jurassic Park. That isn't the case here.

its small because the cgi really isnt "too cgi" as a lot of you are trying to say, the cgi isnt even done yet, the voice actors arent even cast yet...this movie is far from complete and people are still trying to judge it based on an unfinished product...its been said in i dont know how many articles and how many interviews that this is the biggest CGI undertaking the studio has EVER done...even IF the robots appear to be "too cgi" it would be impossible to make it any more realistic.

You don't show in a trailer for a movie the crappiest unfinished things. They are trying to have people come see the movie so they show the public the most polish parts of the movie. IN other words, this is the best they have to offer.

It wouldn't be impossible to make it look more realistic, they just needed to keep it simpler. If they could do it in 1993 with jurasic park, they probably could do it 14 years later.

Have you seen Star Wars Ep3 the hole movie was done with CGI. Most people dont know that. ILM is the best CGI studio out there. I think they have things covered. And i still think the story is gonna suck but the effects are gonna rock. And seeing as how i get to see this movie for free i dont really care anymore. If there is a 2nd movie they are still not gonna listen to what we fans have to say. So all this crying is for nothing. The only way to stop it is go back in time and kill Bay. Or kill him now so there is no more movies. But then Dreamworks will get some one else to make it so either way we're fracked. Cant this go on bitorent already so the madness will end. Or maybe some leaked scenes. Oh wait the movie isnt done yet so it cant. Evrey movie has plot hole why should this be any diffrent. Hell evrey Transformer show had plot holes but we still praise the G1 shows and Beast Wars. All they really did was rehash some names. Its been going on since after G1. Thats all this movie is just bots with stolen names and bad designs. I just hope the game is good.

I saw one of these at my local Odeon the other day, when I went to see Bean: The Holiday.

Truly brilliant movie that one.

Imagine my surprise when I stumbled on Entertainment tonight last night and saw a preview for Blades of Glory, I like Will Farrell so I watched the segment. Then right after it was a shot of Shia Lebeouf opening the door to Bumblebee. I turned to my girlfriend and said "that's the guy who's gonna be in the Transformers movie" (she knows I'm a fan).

Then I turned my head back to the TV only to see Bumblebee begin transform and Starscream swooping in jet mode, transforming and landing with a devastating thud on what looks to be a large dam.

I hadn't been online all day, I didn't know about the tv spots... I almost shat myself.

But I didn't.

I did, however, pee a little bit.

...

it was from the excitement...

...

y'know... excitement-pee.

I liked the bits where Starscream goes down the street and Bonecrusher smashing through the bus. But Starscream, with the mass of a jet traveling at who knows how many hundred miles an hour, gently swinging along the underside of a bridge and only breaking bits off when he slams down? Skorponok completely pouncing out of the sand(/smokecloud)? And am I the only one to notice that apart from frenzy each and every scene with a Transformer apparently has huge amounts of sand, smoke, or fog up tens of feet in the air, including the bit where Optimus is just sitting out there in the middle of nowhere?

And quite the contrary, organic cgi is a great deal more difficult than machines because of textural uniqueness, fine features like hair, and underlying structures like muscle and veins in addition to individual locomotive behaviors.

ahh ok i see what your saying now, but all movies will have things like that in them 8)

Kind of like, but not even closely related to, the practice of reversing the film to fit in better with the trailer.
A perfect example of this was in the Revenge Of The Sith trailers where Anakin's scar switched eyes. the negative was reversed so that he would line up with the previous shot of Padme, while in the actual movie the two shots weren't even related.

I think alot of the problem we're seeing these days is that people don't appreciate what teasers and trailers are supposed to do to them. They are only there to give little peaks at the film and build excitement.

They're not meant to be picked apart frame by frame and scrutinized down to the last detail.
To take the transformation of Starscream and pick it apart for analysis takes away the wonder that trailers and TV spots used to give people.

I shudder to think about what the boards will be like post movie as the haters pick the movie apart frame by frame.

I can't wait for the movie, and do support it, but I can't help to feel so dishearten when I see that ugly thing they call Starscream. It really makes me sad, he looks like a flying woman's sexual organ. Frenzy is stupid looking, funny, but at the same time scary. Most of these "Transformers", look really awful, it almost kills my excitement to see this movie, but I still hope for a bad ass movie with awsome action and bad ass effects. I hope it will have an interesting story, developed characters, that makes me feel...well like a kid again, all excited to see my heroes and villans. :) So far, I'm excited to see it, will see it, but I hope I like the designs more, and feel different about them after I see the movie.

Out of everything I have seen of this movie so far I am very interested and yet disappointed. I love the G1 era and I realize they will never deal with that again. But It would be nice to see Megatron's face resemble something more natural like Prime's does. Also I don't like the sound they make while transforming. To me it really needs to have the sound from the G1 era.

The only part of either spots that caused me to yell out "SWEET!" was Starscream (I think...) going under a bridge, pulling up, and then transforming while he loops back and lands on the bridge. That looked very cool.

I have a problem with how Prime appears, though. From the first time I saw his paint scheme so many months ago, I thought, "What the- flames? How is THAT blending in!" Even ignoring that, it is extremely obvious that OP is CGI in the TV spot. Maybe it will look better on a theater screen.

Victor Caroli? I knew the voice sounded familiar...
