In MY childhood, Primal had lips.
It doesn't count as Prime, I just thought I'd throw that in.

First, it is now proof that he does not respect the source material...WELL DONE!!!!
Second, what gives him the right to decide 'Oh, I don't want that faceplate thing that is the iconic look of this character'
Bay ain't an artist and is no Spielberg.
How about he just concenrs on making the film and make NO CREATIVE decisions.
Keep the damn faceplate on.....

It doesn't matter how good the robots look, how great the action scenes will be or anything else, if Prime has lips, it will ruin the entire movie for me.
It's already completely killed my excitement for the film.

Then I have to question whether you had any excitement to see this movie in the first place if, of all the possible things you could have come up with, Prime having lips is what's going to make you not see it.
This reminds me of when people were complaining about Spider-Man having organic webshooters before the movie came out. Except this is even more inconsequential to the plot.

He will whine about the flames too. Just a heads up

I'd heard people say Spider-Man 3 wasn't very good, and I'd had questions about the fact that they had so many villains in the movie, but I went to see it last night and really enjoyed it. I still have quibbles with some of the decisions made about Venom and other things, but it was still a fun movie. I came to this decision after having gone to watch the movie to form my opinion on the overall product.

Simple as that.
EDIT: I mean, why not go back and put lips on Darth Vader so he can emote better? Sometimes a face that is static can project more emotion that an actual face ever could. Think of Vader watching Luke getting shocked by the Emperor in ROTJ, Vader has the same mask he always had, but the viewer reads into it and the emotion is much stronger than if Vader had a big frowny face and a tear going down his cheek.

As it should be done, form an opinion on how well you like the movie after you've seen it.

In that case, the symbiote as a whole is the actual mask in and of itself. But now we're getting into a semantics argument about comic book physics of alien creatures that can possess people.
