Sarcasm is harder to convey in text alone :). But yeah, the actors who participate in a production will never come out in the promotional interviews and say, 'You know, this really isn't very good, I wouldn't bother paying to see it.'

They've even got Harrison Ford doing essentially hostage videos where he's being made to say that he thinks 'Dial of Destiny' is awesome. It's only after flop status is established and verified that the performers sometimes feel free enough to admit they thought it was terrible.

They're actually contractually obligated to pump sunshine and rainbows up people's asses to promote a movie, no matter how much of a puddle of **** they actually think it is. They could be blamed if they crap all over it and it tanks at the box office.

Is it just me or why is it when the fandom say yeah we love this, like the artwork that dreamwave made the norm for G1 and even the modern stylisations, and I remember that vw bettle clip transforming, it was G1 Jazz in live action cgi. I thought if they animated the comic artwork and carried on with what was great foundations we would of all been happy and they would be raking it in.
The original animated movie got it right on so many levels, I am not just being biased but the music and I love what everyone calls a glorified advert (i loved season 3 i think it was which just threw loads of new characters in, I want to see new stuff) , but the script what with all the deaths, made me feel they were serious, as the series well the first 2 seasons were rubbish, it wasnt until they started bringing in how prime came about etc it hot interesting. Chasing after energon was boring, and the new movies are the same some matrix thingy and nothing new, and loads of poor script, and the designs have started to get better but why when they are cheating with the transformations do they still have weird proportions prime could of been good. anyways when they get poor earnings they blame the product when they have to take ownership that they are ignorant and its obvious what will work and what will not, imthe ingredients are already there, so why create bollox all the time

Hard to imagine, ROTB is the biggest flop of the franchise by a country mile.
For good reason. Hopefully it forces Paramount to reconsider the director and the writer(s) for any potential sequels.

As for what Scarlett Johansson said, it's just boilerplate verbiage. It could be applied to most movies. Until I hear comments specific to the source material, I'll limit my enthusiasm. I do have higher hope for this than I did for RoTB.

Scarlett can say: "TF:One is the best thing since slice bread!" and I couldn't care less.

These are actors/actresses that are there to hype up their projects. Have any one of them ever said "MCU phase four just plain sucks...." ever before OR after any of those movie flops? Don't think so.

Personally, I couldn't care less for star VO. Give me any professional VO any day for animated features.

Still looking forward to the first concepts/teaser/trailer before I get hyped up. TF should belong to the animated world over the live-action world to realize its full potential. So I'm very interested in this direction, just don't care about what the actors/actresses what to say.

Glad to see Scarlet feeling good about this project!

Do we have confirmation that this movie is being affected by the writers strike?

Normally it should... unless Paramount is using ChatGPT to generate the script. ;) But I not above thinking Paramount wouldn't do that. :-P

Possible Transformers One Plot Leak Says Film will Show Characters Gaining Transformation Ability

Postby william-james88 » Tue Oct 17, 2023 6:55 am

Motto: "'till All Are One"
We knew the Transformers One film was an origin story to the eventual conflict between Optimus and Megatron but we didn't know it would be an origin story to them actually being Transformers. Someone who attended the China Licensing Expo reported on seeing the teaser for Transformers One and posted it on Baidu. The translation is below and it may not be 100% accurate (for instance, the word 'dream' seems inacurate). And remember, this is just the words of one person who claims they were there.

“On the afternoon of the 16th, I attended the [China Licensing Expo]. I was fortunate to see some news about next year’s animated blockbuster movie, 'Transformers One'. The key highlight was the release of a teaser, which couldn’t be recorded on the spot. From memory, I sketched the appearances of the two main characters. However, please note that these sketches are based solely on my recollection, and the actual appearance might differ, so I recommend waiting for the teaser.

It seems that the details of the movie are still being kept under wraps. According to the people from [the expo], they only received the teaser yesterday. The plot is expected to revolve around the love, hate, and rivalry between Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, and Elita, as well as their journey to obtaining the Transformation Cog. Initially, they have a hollow space in their chests, as depicted in my drawings. After acquiring the Transformation Cog, their chest designs will change. In the middle to later stages, they gain the ability to transform, and their initial incomplete forms appear in various humorous and bizarre shapes. They can transform into vehicles like trucks, tanks, sports cars, and motorcycles.

Characters such as Shockwave, Soundwave, and Starscream are also introduced, but at that time, they are not yet enemies. Everything appears to be reminiscent of the beginning of a dream. The movie is produced by Industrial Light & Magic, the studio responsible for Transformers 1-5, so the quality should be good.

The overall character designs are more rounded compared to the previous posters, and it might take some getting used to for everyone. I’ve never seen character designs quite like these, so they are somewhat unique. For example, Alpha Trion (translation not clear) appears to be more elemental, like a mix of stone and vegetation, which is very different from the usual Cybertronian designs. Sentinel (translation not clear) is blue, and I don’t have a clear impression of other characters.”

This makes Optimus and the rest really ANCIENT.

Still, there's a logic behind this because in ROTF, The Fallen never transformed. So this mean he never got the basic upgrade and he may even be incompatible.

Reading is hard. Only the headlines count.

That's especially true for news story. And that laziness is exploited by the agenda/propaganda pushers, no matter the sides or causes.

Ok, so I read the headline AND story, and I'm quite proud of myself. >:oP

Unfortunately, I'm not particularly enthusiastic about what I read. That synopsis reads like this story was written by someone who already had a story and twisted an unrelated franchise around it. Maybe the finished product will be better than it sounds.

They are NEVER going to put out a quality cartoon again, are they?

They spoonfed us nostalgia with the War for Cybertron trilogy, and the sad reality is that's the closest they've come to capturing classic Transformers.

Hasbro, doesn't the shelf warming of all this chibi garbage give you a clue on what fans are actually looking for?

Give us a quality series, for the love of God ! :-x

What does any of that have to do with this movie news?

Also, we have and have had good cartoons. EarthSpark is great. Cyberverse was great. The War For Cybertron Trilogy, on the other hand, sucked.

If the WFC series was better than the Prime Wars trilogy but still sucked, I can't imagine what it may have been like. Combiner Wars was enough for me.

After a season of Cyberverse, I was bored to tears.

And the creepy faces kept me away from Earthspark. I just can't stand them. The pronom thing being a bonus.

So, I can understand PhotonWaveZero's sentiment. I too, have zero trust in that new movie. Still, I have a glimmer of hope to be surprized.

I realize that the original cartoon was nothing but a 20 minute toy commercial, but it was at least fun to watch back in the day. I enjoyed Prime, lost interest halfway through Combiner Wars, watched a few episodes of a few others, and never bothered with Earthspark. The entire premise of that one is nonsense to me. And :michaelbay: , that just descended into insulting stupidity.

Let's be honest. It isn't just Transformers media that is spiraling the toilet. Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel, Doctor Who, . . . All the stuff I used to geek out over is nearly unwatchable now. Either my standards have gotten way too high, or theirs have gone through the basement floor and they've started digging. I look forward to being able to look forward to a movie again. Maybe the WGA/SAG-AFTRA strike will clear the writer's rooms of the idiots and activists and turn these franchises back over to people who actually care about the stories and characters again.

Transformation cogs might be a good idea for simple machines but Transformers are super-complex like organic creatures. I think that the transformation ability comes with a profound change on a molecular level, like genetic engineering but metal-based.

Which continuity/series is the better quality is subjective. It depends on the viewer's taste and preference. Despite Kingdom's failure, I thought WFC was pretty good, definitely superior to both Cyberverse and Earthspark. Those are shows for pre-teens/early teens. Definitely not for anyone older than 14.

As for this new animated feature, I'll wait for official reveals. I thought the Exodus novel was average, but a skilled scriptwriter could take it and expand it into a decent movie story. We'll see.

Rodimus Prime wrote:Which continuity/series is the better quality is subjective.

We'll see.

Even using Kingdom, the best of the 3 WFC series, the only things I'd call it superior to were the Prime Wars trilogy and Energon. There is a reason Netflix passed on a Legacy series. And there is a reason F.J. DeSanto should not be allowed anywhere near Transformers again.
