The beginnings of Cerebro were in First Class, didn't he help him build that?

I liked X-Men Origins

I finally saw X-Men: First Class last night. The major cameo was spoiled for me last week. Oh well. It was still a treat to see Wolverine.
I was surprised how much I loved the movie. The trailers & commercials didn't do it for me. The Photoshopped posters didn't win me over either. I found it weird that the film didn't have a multimedia marketing frenzy like Slurpees or toys.
I love that the movie didn't feel like the previous installments. It felt very much like a James Bond movie, most obviously whenever Sebastian Shaw was on screen. Who knew Kevin Bacon could be such an awesome villain?
Things that I loved...
-Magneto. I thought X-Men Origins: Magneto could've been cool and was disappointed when that wasn't happening. I didn't realize that those ideas were incorporated in this movie. He's my favorite character in the movie. I also nerded out that he had his comic accurate helmet with that fork on the forehead. And the scene at the very end with the Nazi coin is amazing. I'm shocked that the filmmakers were able to get away with such a gruesome scene.
-As I mentioned above, I love Sebastian Shaw as a Bond villain.
-Erik being responsible for Charles' paralyzed legs. I always thought Magneto was responsible in the comics but apparently not. That part of the movie was a real shocker for me and it totally works.
-The movie wasn't jam packed with endless cameos like X-Men 3 or Wolverine.
-Of all the students, I thought Hank McCoy was the best. Really great character.
-Kinda wished we had more scenes with Darwin.
A few nerd observations that hopefully someone could answer...
-Sebastian Shaw was absorbing the nuclear reactor. What happened to all that energy when he was killed? Or was he stopped before he could absorb enough deadly force?
-Was the public aware of the mutant involvement in the Cuban Missile Crisis or was there a cover up?

**SPOILERS**
The best of the 5 X-Men movies (counting Wolverine, I did like that one).
No questions asked.
The scene when Erik kills Shaw with the coin is horrendously gruesome, yet awesome.

I went in simply hoping to see a fun action/sci-fi movie and that is what I got. I had fun, so the cash was well spent.
