Japanese consumers love tiny cute things.Rated X wrote:Exactly who is the target audience supposed to be for these things ? I dont get it...
When Bot Shots were sold over in Japan as the BeCool line, the game aspect we had in the West was excised over there, and the marketing gimmick that they used instead was just the small, simple, cutesyness of the toys alone, and it worked enough for them to even get versions of the toys that we never got.
It's just a different market with a different mindset.
And as an aside, the show's hilarious (though it would probably be moreso if it were subbed in English, since I can only get a basic understanding of what they're saying in Japanese).

But yeah, these are actually decent transformations and quite nice, accurate car modes. They're a good size and make nice homage to G1... including a spot on Datsun, Lambo and Wheeljack race car. There's a lot of win here.

Irony, thy name is Q-Transformers: Mystery of Convoy Returns.Autobot_Crossfire wrote:I find it a little annoying how the show has this epic intro with them fighting and all, and the show itself is just a freaking talk show.
It's still a hilarious show.

primalxconvoy wrote:They are fun little figures, but expensive for what they are. There are already recolours, so I suspect that TT will milk them dry. The G1 Prime has already been scalped at a Toys R us near me (notably as every single other figure was still there, in large amounts), so I suspect they have all gone to either Hong Kong scalpers, or domestic ones via Yahoo Japan auctions.
Cool, thanks. I may just throw one in my pile of loot at BBTS.

gothsaurus wrote:Yeah, I've been picking up most of these... and love them. Being imports... and great G1 homages (for most of them)... I think they're definitely worth the value. I love these little Q-Transformers. I'd like to see as many of the original Mini-Bots done as Q-Transformers. Looking forward to seeing the concept expand to the Seekers. I'm glad they're not trying to pull the Alternity Seekers route by making them into cars.

I saw the Seekers on BBTS. They look like the sort of thing that should have pull back and go action.
I don't know anything about the Q-Transformers. Is that a different story line or just a fun little toy? Does Q stand for cute?

Not exactly. These three are new versions meant to be show-accurate to the cartoon talk show that these three host together.LOST Cybertronian wrote:Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Lockdown (deco based on the Revenge of the Fallen toy) are based on their movie likenesses.
The original versions were more detailed and movie-accurate, while these new ones are more cartoony and kawaii like the show.
Also, yay, Kitty-chan gets a gallery! Bring on the EVA Units as well!

A shame that Lockdown doesn't have a hook-hand.

With Shockwave, however, both the Katakana and Latin script read as "Shockwave" despite his original Takara name being "Laserwave". Even in the Q-Transformers: Mystery of Convoy Returns cartoon is the guy referred to as "Laserwave" in episodes he has appeared in. So it's rather unusual for this toy to use the Hasbro name of "Shockwave" in both languages and not use the name "Laserwave" at all.

Yeah... Bee still looks like the one most likely to go on a murderous rampage.
Or if you meant the hook-hand: this Lockdown is still based on his traditional look, so I'd still expect his trademark hook. I mean, they gave him his face tattoos and everything, so...

Jazz seems the odd duck of the bunch since, unlike the other four, he's barely been in the show or its related media.

Its never too late. This was just a post about our gallery, we would still love to news that they were found in Japan, it could help our fellow Japanese audience. So if you have time these coming days, it would be awesome to have a picture of the actual gachapon machine these are found in. We would news that and give you a news credit
And that goes for any new toy you see, especially the kind you dont hear of much on the site (Kabaya toys are a good example). So if say you find Legends Blurr at retail in japan, let us know with a picture. We could post in in the thread and if its an early sighting, we could news it too

Ok. That wasn't a dig at the site; I just didn't know they were new, as the main Q-Transformer line seems to be winding down.
I can confirm that Amazon Japan is delivering my Computron today (Saturday, 27th August), While Blurr, Scourge and maybe Shockwave are being delivered today or tomorrow by Toys R Us Japan.
If you want pictures, i can do that, but how to send them? Seibertron has notoriously small file sizes for picture uploads compared to rival sites.

Oh I know it wasnt a dig, I just wanted to let you know how you could help us all and show us cool stuff The best way to send us images is my e-mail. I will send your our e-mail in a private message.
Also, Seibertron can let you post a bunch of pics, but not through uploads. You need to upload them to a photo sharing site (like www.photobucket.com), and then copy paste the photo's link in a post and surround it this:
