It would be an ideal place for Giant robots to blend in and hide.

What's "the boneyard"?

The "boneyard" also known as AMARG (Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group) at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tuscon, AZ. I was there a couple of years ago and actually got to take a tour of it (from an A/C equipped bus no less, very useful in the desert).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/309th_Aerospace_Maintenance_and_Regeneration_GroupIt's actually an interesting place to visit for military nuts like me.

Anyone else reminded of reminded of how the Combaticons were created in the old cartoon?

Interesting point. DOes that mean we will potentially see plane bots that aren't just F-22's, but some other combat planes?

The government just recently held a very large auction out there,
(I think the miliitary was trying to raise some gas money

)
so it would be interesting to see how much of a dent was made in the mammoth stockpile out there. I agree that it would make for a perfect filming location for a Transformers movie. The hiding factor for a Decepticon in all of that is mind-blowing and the potential for new military bots (like Combaticons) rising from all of that is staggering. I just hope it is not just a rumor and that the location is actually used.

Seems plausible, but with Bay and his false rumors I'm a little hesitant on believing this.

Bay must be loving all this...
with every piece of news and/or rumor released, people doubt its validity cuz of his warnings about wrong info....lol

I always wanted to go to the boneyard, and take home some souvenirs, like a plane.

Considering the earlier report that a bunch of Movie vehicles were sighted being trucked to Arizona, this seems plausable.

Doesn't Hollywood use the Boneyard for old aircraft to blow up/ destroy, etc. for special effects?
I don't think it will be filming there, but I would expect Bay to use some of the stuff their for his 'splosions'n'stuff. Did he do so for TF:1? I'm trying to remember the various "making of" things I watched back when the movie came out.

That would be pretty sweet. The boneyard in question is in Tuscon, AZ (where I have been living the last 9 years). The Pima Air & Space Museum has a pretty cool shuttle / bus tour of the boneyard as well as a decent aircraft exhibit for those who appreciate that sort of thing (like me).

I registered on this board after hearing this news and getting an epiphany simultaneously. If they are any Jetfire/Skyfire fans out there, this is potentially earth shattering news, given if its true. The legendary F-14, my favorite plane, was sadly retired in 06'. The aircrafts' final resting place is none other than the aforementioned Boneyard. Jetfire's alt mode is an F-14 Tomcat. And to those that will complain that Jetfire is based on the Valkyrie model from Robotech/Macross, what do you think they based that plane on? None other than the F-14(if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then its a duck. unless its a platypus:P). I have a feeling that an F-14 will be scanned at the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base(boneyard) by an ambiguous decepticon, and emerging from that is the new decepticon F-14 Jetfire! Swing wing here we come, I feel the need, the need for speed!

Maybe this is where the "generic" robot Bay mentioned will scan its alt-mode
