If you have new info and pics about a project, update the news thread. Daimchoc does from time to time but he is certainly not the only one who posts info. and if you make a new topic, for the love of primus get that info into the news thread! threads can get burried pretty quick around here and some of us aren't able to sift through all the topics to find the new ones at the end of the day
Also, stop harassing Rated X. if he posts that he doesn't like a project why does it matter to you? you guys gang up on him and inflate your post counts while contributing NOTHING to the discussion about the figure. some have outright claimed to stop reading his posts, this is very proactive, ignoring him is much better than filling a thread with bullshit about how his posts are always negative. it is not his responsibility to post why he doesn't like a figure. and oh how i laugh out loud when he does detail why he doesn't like the project, you guys **** on him anyway. the guy like updates to G1 but not WfC/FoC/Prime. Get off his case. Seriously. its a shame Moderators haven't stepped in and addressed it. Rated X has a tough exterior to be sure, and he can take and swat away any hate that comes his way, but in terms of how this forum has become the Wild West, its not what i want from a forum, at the very least be friendly.

Well maybe people should use the "Report this Post" button so it's brought to the attention of a Moderator.

Thanks for having my back on that. Honestly none of these dudes phase me. Im just fortunate to have a job that allows me enough computer time to respond to their posts. Youre right, I dont gotta explain s**t to anyone on my stance. But I choose to anyways. Thats when I get to use my trademark sense of humor. Then I find out half of them have no sense of humor, pointblank. And yeah, I miss the ass jokes.

I'm actually glad you respond because while I often don't agree with you, the discussion back and forth often leads me down paths of thought I might not have otherwise considered and allows me to look at things in a different way, be it legit Has/Tak figures or third party stuff.

I can't speak for anyone else, but my intention is not (and has never been) to insult X, even when I adamantly disagree with him or his comments. It's simply a matter of debating our points of view. That's why I never throw insults at him and as far as I can recall, he's never thrown any at me. Harassment is one thing, open debate is another and we all have our strong points of view here (most of us being men who collect toys, so it's serious stuff for sureJRFitzpatrick7 wrote:Also, stop harassing Rated X. if he posts that he doesn't like a project why does it matter to you? you guys gang up on him and inflate your post counts while contributing NOTHING to the discussion about the figure. some have outright claimed to stop reading his posts, this is very proactive, ignoring him is much better than filling a thread with bullshit about how his posts are always negative. it is not his responsibility to post why he doesn't like a figure. and oh how i laugh out loud when he does detail why he doesn't like the project, you guys **** on him anyway. the guy like updates to G1 but not WfC/FoC/Prime. Hehe, I've never been to Botcon, but I'm sure we'd get along fine. Maybe one of these days I'll go if I can afford it and it's close enough to me (I REALLY hate flying

It is funny these days though that with regards to ripping on Hasbro, I'm a lot closer to your POV than I used to be. I don't hate them or anything, but they aren't getting nearly as much of my $ as they once did.

Anyone who has ever met X in real life knows that he's one of the chillest, most laid back people around. He may type up a storm, but if there's anyone on this board who is the exact opposite of what you'd imagine based on his posts, it would be X.

Mostly I genuinely discuss opposite points of view with X. Although sometimes I do admit, I slip into a more combative stance despite myself. I never go into it with the intention of picking a fight, though.

Good request, but I feel that more specifics should be involved. What type of pics should get posted to the news thread? Do we need the thread to embody teasers, prototypes, final products (w/ or w/o packaging), comparisons, and in-hand? The same with new info? What type of news makes sense to fit into the news thread? The current guidelines are pretty open for interpretation EXCEPT for actual thoughts about the product. I'd rather not see the news thread get bogged down like the individual threads do, and definitely not clogged with blurred or otherwise obfuscated images.
Definitely agree that there needs to be a renewed effort in at least mentioning a new product/thread via the news thread.
Daimchoc had been a great boon in providing the latest info, in the absence of official moderators/news crew. Others participate to various degrees but it seems we're all trying to pitch in when we can. Ultimately, whoever is doing the work is volunteering their time to do it. I think posting of tidbits should stay in the individual threads. Now, if there were a way on this board to flag a post as "news" and then filter for only "news", it would be a much easier task to get what you're looking for.
Honestly, the fandom seems to do more promotion for the 3Ps than the actual 3Ps.

Hello, my name is necr0blivion, and I have harassed Rated X at some point recently. My apologies, I do believe that we're all here to discuss product and not each other. I will try my best to keep to the subject when possible, but I am only human. Glad X has such a thick skin, though. Definitely the "spice" in the soup.
So, while we're at is: anyone else have suggestions on how to improve the information flow? I was thinking of a way to keep track of products by individual companies as well - especially useful when there are themes/sets being released or recolors/remolds. Is there interest in keeping up with info in this manner?

Words are a terrible way of conveying emotion, then add to that the fact that X has an... unusual sense of humor

Speaking as one who has been critical of X, I have to say it's more about the civil tone I had come to expect around here from the day I joined. None of what X has said I find to be objectionable to the point of involving moderators. Rather it is the putting of words in my mouth that I object to, and therefore, I let him know. I prefer to debate the merits of the figures. I find the humor hilarious, even when it gets sophomoric to the point of needing to be cleaned up. (Really, the names of some of these figures.)
X brings it on himself, and doesn't seem to mind the comments in return. Maybe it does something, maybe not. *shrug*
I've said my piece...

Well, i was thinking for News thread updates:
If you contribute new info or pics relating to a project in that project's thread, after submitting your post copy the link to that specific post (like i did with a quote in my sig[before that topic was deleted]). Add the link to your post to the news thread with a little detail regarding what it is, comparison pics, scale pics, first look, or maybe info about release dates or preorder availability. it may seem like a hassle now, but it will save your piers a ton of time having to sift through posts and threads they have already read.
As for keeping Companies and their projects organized, i think the best place for that would be the Sticky topic that blurrz put up when this forum opened. The release dates thread is meant to be kept up to date with all of the current projects and is organized by 3rd Party company.
another sticky that might be worth creating could be projects that are dead in the water, projects that haven't had any news in...some amount of time...the Botcon stunticon menasor set comes to mind.
Just spit ballin here.
great to see everyone getting along;)

I consider myself relatively reserved by comparison of most others who have "harassed" X, it's just that he tends to stick out around here as a common complainer. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't, but after enough exposure that's the kind of vibe one gets.

It's better to stick out than not be noticed. So I guess that makes me a d**k ?

Naw, sticking out doesn't necessarilly make one a Richard. It's more likely how things are stated and how people are treated by a person that determines Richardness.

If you're going to make baseless claims like that, can you provide examples? In fact just the one would be great. X quite often makes sweeping statements which leads to people's reaction, (and I suspect a slightly masochistic side of him may even enjoy provoking responses every now and then) although I haven't seen anyone step over the line? I find X's staunch defense of all things G1 endearing if I'm honest and he does provoke decent discussion. I'm sure X doesn't need you to intervene. Perhaps look up what 'Harassment' means in the dictionary as that is quite the serious accusation, as is your assertion that the mods are not doing their job? Why seek to provoke disharmony on a thread where there is none, other than your own mind?
Here's a suggestion for you - keep out of moderator's business or become one yourself, it seems like you want that anyway.

Re: A suggestion for the forum guidelines.

Get off his case. Seriously. its a shame Moderators haven't stepped in and addressed it. Rated X has a tough exterior to be sure, and he can take and swat away any hate that comes his way, but in terms of how this forum has become the Wild West, its not what i want from a forum, at the very least be
If you're going to make baseless claims like that, can you provide examples?
+1
Harassing someone and debating a point/opinion with them about something are 2 completely different things. X is very opinionated, as am I (and as are several others around here

I don't recall a time that it ever came to personal insults or anything inflammatory, just disagreements regarding our opinions from start to finish which is just what happens when two people have a discussion about something that they don't agree about.
It is kinda weird that X is being singled out here in a thread like this as though he needed 'saving'. He doesn't. Even when threads get heated and he's involved, he handles himself just fine and I'm sure that he's well aware that his strong and often extremely opinionated statements are going to stir things up. That's what happens any time someone states their opinion in such a way and others do not agree with it, but that just comes with the territory of being on a discussion board.

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I am that which is, which was, and is yet to come.
And you will know my name is MEGATRON when I lay my vengeance upon you!
