A Tale of Three Seekers... (one that I need help fixing!)

So, two weeks ago while in my local comic-shop, I fell into a bit of luck. While hunting down a back-issue of IDW's TF comics, I stumbled upon a loose but complete Acid Storm. While I was celebrating my luck (I didn't yet have a Classics Seeker and had wanted one) I noticed that there was something else new, in box, at my feet: Masterpiece Skywarp.

I already own one, but a friend of mine who is a seeker nut was pretty bummed that he missed out on it when it was available at Wal-Mart. Naturally, I called him and he still wanted it, so I picked it up for him. When I saw him a few days later, he paid me back for it and then made an offer on the loose Acid Storm.

With the money from that, I decided to pick up another seeker for myself, so I bought Generations Thrust and thought, "wow, that was a good spot of luck!"

Then it went south.

First off, my friend broke his shiny new Skywarp the second time he transformed it. One of the pins that the right arm swivels on popped out of the plastic that held it in place; it had broken loose.

Then, when transforming my new Thrust, I noticed that his left arm from below the elbow was actually a right arm... so he had two right arms.

Now, while the second situation was easily rectified (a quick trip to the store for an exchange) the first is far more troublesome. Although I didn't break it, I feel sorry for my friend's bad luck and I really want to help him fix it. He has all the parts (including the plastic that broke off when the pin popped out) but we've tried using epoxy glue and it just won't hold the pin in place. Are there any suggestions as to what kind of glue works the best for this kind of problem?

Thanks so much.

That really sucks!

This might be a bit of a stupid question, however can't your friend not just simply buy a replacement MP Skywarp off eBay or something. Then just keep the origonal one as a spare?

Even the best glue isn't going to rectify what happened to the toy. Use 'super glue' from Games Workshop/Black Citadel, it works wonders. After that's applied, I suggest leaving the figure in the preferred mode and not moving it much.

Thanks for the responses.

He probably could just buy another one and keep the broken one in plane mode, but he doesn't have a ton of disposable income and he has kids (which, I hear, further diminish some people's Transformers budgets). ;)

We tried epoxy gluing it, but the torque of moving the arm on that pin just tore it loose anyway, almost a week after gluing it. I had a look at it yesterday and the arm seems to sit fairly well in place as long as he doesn't pull it out sideways, in which case it pops right off.

I think he's decided to just live with it. In plane mode the damage is hidden and the arm held in place by those two black pieces that attach to the sides of the toy's intakes, and in robot mode the toy is still fully poseable as long as he doesn't pull the arm out sideways. I guess it sucks but it could have been far worse... he'll just have to be careful to avoid losing any of the parts that slide off their pins when the army assembly is loose.

Thanks again!

I've got a young family to, so I empathise with him. If funds are an issue, as I can appreciate, why not just ask for him for Christmas, or save a little each month. That's what I tend to do these days and as a result my collection has been greatly enhanced.

That's true as well, but then he'd have to sneak another one past his wife! ;)

Actually, I think if he was really going to spend money on another, he'd buy another version of the mold (Screamer or T-Crack) and just leave that one in Robot form.

If it's still fully poseable he'll just have to live with it. Yeah, it sucks but it could be WAY worse.
