I don't think it's really possible to be a true completionist for the recent stuff. Between Botcon, Minicons, Lucky Draws, and Japanese store exclucives you'd have to be pretty hardcore about one particular line to truly complete it. To even come close you'd need to set some parameters like "Lucky Draws don't count".

Prime Evil wrote:Before the original Classics line came out, I was all about getting g1 stuff. I would also pick and choose from A/E/C lines. Buuut since Classics/Generations line, I've been into that and only that. Trying to build up a G1 Neo verse. So some AEC repaints fall into that category, and when it comes to US vs Japanese stuff, I pick and choose. Example, I have United Jazz and don't need RTS, but I want US Grappel and not United Grapple. But usually one of an actual character is good enough for me. There are times where I have multiples, but not often. Oh and I'm a sucker for troop building. Seekers, Sharkticons, Sweeps.
I don't do animated because I don't want to get sucked into to many lines. One is expensive enough.
I don't do movie because I really dislike their aesthetics. Everytime I do buy a movie fig, I remember why I dislike them in the first place and in the random bins they go (smh). Only movie figure I can even kinda like are both Bludgeons.
This, except I got really into Animated for a while. I've since sold most of the figures, only keeping a few that fit into my Neo-G1 aesthetic.

So these three dyslexic men walk into a bra... oh HAHAHA I am so funny

I'm kinda not quite, but maybe, I don't know.
I'm a completist in the sense that I want to collect every Energon TF that was in the cartoon and then get the DVD set of the show. I also want to complete a set of the best versions of all of the TFs in the first movie (Premium releases over the regular ones). But then I also collect some TFs I just think are cool. Like Armada Thundercracker and Wheeljack, G1 TFs that are iconic to me (Bluestreak, Gears, Shockwave and Astro Train), and G1 homages like Universe/Classics when I can afford them.
Right now, TFs are taking a back seat to Star Wars and G.I.JOE. If I had the $$$, I'd be buying a lot more (movie TFs to complete that set, Energon TFs to complete that run, Universe/Classics to enjoy the old as new, and some stuff that is just too cool (Masterpiece and a few other Alternators/Binaltech). I really need to make a list of what I have now so I know for sure what to get. My current focus is to get a ROSS priced ROTF Long Haul for sale/trade. I just LOVE Dumptrucks for some reason and that fig is a MUST have for me. I just can't afford much for him.

I'm pretty much a pick & choose kind of collector. I collect various lines and feel no pressure at all to complete them.
I do like to collect as many versions of a favorite character across different lines, though. But even then, I'd have to really like the fig itself to buy it.

I'm a pick and choose buyer, although sometimes do I end up getting most of the figures in a line. When I do, however, it's just because I happen to like most of them, not because I try to get as many figures from the line as possible.
