Artists for hire
Get a load of this folks :
We at Transtopia are trying to make our site more fan-artist friendly.
Not all of you can get hired to work commercially. Some of you however are just as good as someone who gets hired to do box art for Hasbro or cover art for DW. To me that's just a shame.
You do great work. You work hard. You should be able to get hired right? We all know how hard the job market can be. So we at Transtopia have devised a way for you, the Fan Artists to get work.
If you have submitted work to Transtopia or are thinking about it then please do. We are in the middle of trying to rebuild the site and as part of our new feature we want you, the artist to submit not only your work but a bio about you as well. We want people to get a good feeling of who you are and what you are about as well as get the word out if you except commissions or not. Think about it, it's not only free advertisement but also a good way to introduce yourself to the fandom that doesn't know who you are or that they can actually hire you.
Included in this feature will be a custom-made banner that will be advertised on the main page of my site for people that take commissions. It will be directly linked to a page of names of the artists that are up for making some extra cash drawing for less fortunate fans. Some less fortunate fans have no artistic ability but would love a pic of their fanfic character or whatever. The names on that list will be links that will directly link the person to your bio as well as your gallery.
If you might be interested in this feel free to drop me a line via PM or email and I will personally make sure to add your name to the list.
What's the catch?
The only catch there is that you have to submit content to the site so not only will we have an awesome gallery to show the people but also to give them an idea of your skills as well.
Don't have a site that hosts the pics? No problem.
Just email your work to Pepie at pepie@darkhorizon.nl and we'll handle it. We have the space to fill.
So get together that work and get a hold of me today and we'll get to work, for you, right away.
If submitting art and you DO NOT want to take commissions, or if you do, either include it in your bio as ?Commissions: Unavailable? or ?Available? and let us know.
Want to change your mind? Just let us know and we'll change that bio status.
It's easy as pie.
Please fell free to PM, email or IM me with any questions at:
TFmaster01@aol.com
Thanks for your time and I hope to hear from all of you.

I'm up for this. just have to write a bio I guess. but seriously who doesn't know who I am
I'm up for 2d commisions, but no more armor, I've got three suits under construction right now. My hole punch broke and I need new swivel blades.
so paper yes, leather no. Maybe a belt or two for those who enjoy renfairs.

Allright, I might wanna try this, sounds interesting
main problem however is that I do not have a site to show off my skills. All of my stuff is printed or drawn and I do not exactly now how to show my work in a good way online

Right, I'm definitely down for this. I'll get some stuff up in the next few days.
Rem, it's not as difficult as it seems. Grab yourself some webspace (I got a free, adless account from Angeltowns) and knock yourself up a site. You can either use a WYSIWYG program like Frontpage, or do like I did and learn some HTML. I learned the basics in about a day by going to Fluffbucket. They've got a decent guide to the basics of HTML, and the rest you can pick up as you go along.
If getting your work into a digital format is the problem, just grab yourself a scanner. If you don't have one yet you should be able to pick one up fairly cheaply nowadays.
For the record, there's a link to my site in my profile. It's a bit basic at the moment, but I'll have more work up soon, and hopefully I'll tidy it up when I have more time too. Then I'll start waving banners and such...

Scanning and cloring isn't a problem (look at my avatar)
I've just never had some webspace and I'm not great with HTML, gotta give it some time. I'm thinking abot doing it in flash cos it allowes me to use animated menus.
But thanks for the help, I appriciate it.

I'll definitely be up for this... just as soon as my damned computer returns from the repairman (it's been nearly a month now - he's in severe danger of not getting paid at this rate!)

I'm thinking about getting in....but I don't do color well, just pencil stuff, and it's normally really rough...

The poop. I still am very much up for this. Unfortunately, my computer's recently been subjected to an endless stream of hideous virusi, not to mention a bloody worm. My only hope may be to completely restart my system, losing horrendous amounts of work. I'm going to make hard copies of everything I can, but it's still going to lose me way too much stuff.
I've used several anti-virus programs, and they all say,
"Ooh, that's a nasty-looking load of virusi. What, you want me to get rid of 'em? Don't be silly..."
Meantime, I can't even use the Internet.
As soon as I'm sorted out, it's a pretty safe bet you guys'll be among the first to know, and I'll also sort out my gallery submissions.

Yeah. I had ZoneAlarm, AVG, AdAware, HijackThis, CWShredder, and several others in place, but somehow they got through anyway. Unfortunately, it means that I can't get online at all anymore until it's cleared up (I'm using my girlfriend's sister's computer about 100 miles from home, and I go back tomorrow), so I can't even get any other AV software for the time being either (and don't even mention Norton to me).
The plan is to get hard copies of everything I can so I lose as little as possible when I clear my hard drive. With a bit of luck I shouldn't lose too much essential stuff that I can't get back again later.
Fingers crossed...

I believe this is my first post, if not, then my sec, but on to business. This all sounds very interesting to me. Being in school though, would make it complicated and I have two commissions to finish before I can do anything for the site, but I would be willing to do stuff in my spare time, possibly. So, I'll give this a thought.

I have a question to the other artists and owners. Does this really work? I'm really interested in earning some money on the side and getting some commissions. Have the people advertised on the site experienced a greater number of commissions?

I haven't received any paying commissions yet just volunteer work. But then I haven't put out a whole lot of stuff to be judged on either.
I beleive King Starscream Josh, and a couple others are getting better results though.

I have done a few volunteer comissions. At the moment, I am unavailable for commissions though. I need to finish up some other stuff.

I am getting started professionally as a full-time freelance Graphic Designer and Illustrator, so I am definately looking for paid commissions. I have several Star Wars pics up on the Star Wars Artists Guild website athttp://www.swagonline.net I have already sent a Bio card with my custom Elita-1 Gallery submission, and will be sending the bio cards for my other customs when I submit them. I don't think I'm a good enough artist yet to be part of this. I'm trying my darnest to draw more, so hopefully I'll get better.
