I found a Wheeljack figure at a Goodwill store today and wasn't sure if there had been a reissue of this toy. The excellent shape it's in made me think it must be a newer re-release, but I thought the mold was lost and there was no reissue in recent times. It has die-cast parts and the trademark reads Takara Co Ltd 1980 1981 Japan. Can anyone help me?

The only reissue was in the European Classics line, and it's unlikely that one of those would end up in a store in the US (that's where I'm assuming you found it; correct me if I'm wrong), so you probably have an original.

Cool. I was amazed because it looks brand new, except for missing accessories. And I only paid 25 cents!

There is a high quality knock off. I don't know if there are any differences between an original and knock off.

I found a good side by side comparison of the original and the knock-off. From the type of screws used, head paint apps, and stickers, I see mine is an original, thankfully.
