First I hope this topic hasn't already been spun. But recently I was thinking on a whole "what if" scenario. What if Megatron and Shockwave had switched roles? So it would be Megatron as the scientist bot who stayed behind on Cybertron having little air time on a hit 80's animated series. And Shockwave would have been the evil Decepticon leader taking on the heroic Autobots having more air time per episode on a hit 80's animated series.

Well Seibertronians I put like this, even though the idea might be interesting Megatron and Shockwave were both awesome pistols to be wielding!! Weather you dug the fun factor of transforming Megatron into more than just a Walther P, or the sleek feel and sound of Shockwaves electronic blast they were both a must have for most of us if not all of us! If anyone can remember "Gemco", it was there that I got my Shockwave and after that my quest was to then get a Megatron. But not only did I never get Megatron I unfortunately (due to my youth) broke the laser arm off Shockwave with the rubber cable causing it to just dangle pathetically. And though I tried to see past it the damage was done and too great to see past. I remember trashing it to hell and never getting another. Today I own the first re-issue Megatron along with the black version and am now just biding my time when I can get my hands on a mint/near mint Shockwave to make things right!

So which pistol will you be packing? My hat is off to Megatron....pure evil in all it's form. But for me I must say that Shockwave is the one I favor to draw and go out in a blaze of glorious vengeance!!!

Maybe it's the 3 hours of sleep I got last night, but this topic is a little confusing. Are you asking which character is better; G1 Megs or G1 Shockwave? Or are you asking which G1 toy gun is better? I guess I'll just answer both. G1 Megs is definitely the better character, but a huge laser pistol beats a Walther P37 any day of the week.

As toys in alt mode, I think both are great. G1 Megatron's alt has the "real world" design to it while G1 Shockwave has the cool sci-fi laser gun look. Hmm...I have to give the edge to Shockwave because in G1, "normal" Earth alt modes were the norm and so Shockwave's Cybertronic alt mode is unique. Also, it has sound effects. Pew pew!

That, and I think Shockwave's alt mode seems to be bigger than Megatron's. Besides logic > evil.

Because the idea that drone = one eye didn't really come out until the movie figs.

There are a few other G1'ers who only had one eye, like Whirl. None of them were drones, and the closest thing to drones would have been insecticon clones and the generic background seekers... other than the non-transforming guards to Vector Sigma, that is.

Shockwave doesn't look like drones. Drones look like Shockwave!

Besides, Shockwave needs the one eye or else he couldn't be called the one eyed purple people eater.

That's true, guess I just wanted to know where the 1eye = drone concept comes from to be made into Bayverse. Whirl never made it into the G1 series cartoon, so I guess that makes Shockwave the only one with 1 eye.

except that rotf plane that only has 1 eye? isn't one of the bikes a cyclops too?

the G1 shockwave's robot mode was shockingly bad with it's comedy chicken-legs. even as a wee kiddywink they looked silly. sillier, even, than megatron's haemorrhoids stance. as unlikely as it is the only decent robot-mode for shockwave was the actionmaster

pseudoedit. frenzywhassisface's custom based on the cybertron shockwave is sexy but doesn't count. much nicer than the toy it's based on too.

which bike are you talking about? I agree, it's really hard for G1 Shockwave's figure to stand with those legs. Yet, Shockwave's sound, lights, and alt mode is one of the best of the G1 series. pew pew. :mrgreen:

Not to be nitpicky, but the movie-verse drones entire heads were nothing more than surveillance cameras mounted on their shoulders, and their entire face was taken up by the lens. Shockwave has "something of a face" (a blank area, at least) with a beady yellow eye in the middle.

And lets not forget that not only is it his 1 eye, but he has to speak thru the damn thing!! How's about that for cyber-organs...eye and voice box are 1!!!

It just means Shockwave's a step ahead of us as far as "Til all are one" is concerned.

And I think that the "one eye = drone" thing comes from the various Gundam series.
