Finally, old TT/Hasbro has got into the act. If you can't beat them, throw a fly in their ointment.

FP Protector, then Takara releases almost simultaneously last Christmas MP Rodimus Convoy.

The planned TFC Devastator, then we get an Encore 20 Devastator (two years late if you ask me, should have timed it for ROTF)

FP planned(is that the green lighted already) not Wreck-gar then we get a United/RTS Wreck-gar.

Though with the exception of Protector, which was an upgrade, most of the examples I raised were/are "homages" to the original.

I never heard of any plans for a not-Wreck-Gar from any 3rd party. but that's just me and I'm not a news hound who digs up these jewels of information.

On the other hand, I do agree w/ you there seems to be some collaboration between HasTak and the 3rd party companies. HasTak does stand to sell very well, even more so I think, w/ these 3rd party upgrade kits. W/ the release of the new Protector armor for the Sons of Cybertron Rodimus I'm very tempted to consider a re-release of the Henkei Rodimus just because the gun on my Classics got broken (the handle was snapped off).

FP was set to release three different versions of Junkions.

Not Wreck gar/Junkions was presented in silhouette pics IIRC waaaaaaay back together with "Protector".

The Junkions were in Protector's comic too. Gotta wonder if they'll still do 'em or just forget 'em.

Of course there's the smaller MP Prime coming out, undercutting iGear. Henkei Hot Rod undercutting the planned KO. They have GOT to have an Arcee waiting in the wings too. And Reflector was tossed out as a Perceptor redeco.

This was my perception of how they were addressing this merchandise competition.

I was agreeing with your original post.

I was just thinking about this last night.

It seems like Takara is taking a step against KOs. KO Rodimus was announced, and the next day Takara announces a rerelease.

Creative way of combating the 3rd party groups.

FP will probably remain unnaffected though.
