Some time after I got Combiner Wars Ironhide, I realized that his back actually looks a lot more like his G1 chest than his real chest did! So o got right to work. First thing is first, you have to cut off the front of the vehicle mode. 
I cut off just enough from the pin to turn it into a "C" clip, so he can still transform to truck and limb with some partsforming. Once this is done, you can rotate the head and waist a 180. Then you'll need to swap the forearms. This part can be tricky as the plastic in the elbows rather fragile so be cautious when doing this. 
if you're at this point you're probably wondering what to do with the vehicle front now. Well good thing it just happens to friction all snug and secure on what is now Ironhide's back!
since I don't want to break his elbows, I don't switch them between modes, everything doesn't clip together as securely but he still looks like a truck. If anyone doesn't want him to transform anymore, you can unscrew the two halves of the truck front and glue them to the shoulders to give him the big grey shoulder look!
