It looks like instead of adding hinged arms (which doesn't look possible without pin removal), they're going with a few different plug-in arms with the elbows at different angles.

What I fear from this add-on is wearing out the connection between the shoulder and the lower arm replacement.

Provided they're still in the design stage, that aspect can be easily fixed in CAD.

So glad I cancelled my pre order for the Hasbro version last week. Wonder how many more pre orders will be cancelled after Takara revealed their advancements in elbow technology.

I want to support Hasbro in retail, I really do. But this will likely be the second time (first being Metroplex) that I choose to either just get the SDCC version or the Takara one.

My concern is that they just DON'T show up widespread, like what happened with Metroplex. Which might be a deterrent for Hasbro/TT to make these types of releases in the future. Different paint apps aren't as much of a concern as additional features, bonus items (weapons), and likely better tooling is.

@necro - in my opinion, the only thing the SDCC Metroplex had going for it, from a pure figure standpoint, was the extra gun. I didn't care for the chromed parts, or the decoys. That beautiful box is another thing entirely. I think Takara's version out-shined either of the Hasbro releases, exclusive or not, and we're seeing the same thing with Devastator.

I'm definitely buying Takara's Devastator, but I'll probably end up with Hasbro's versions as well for posterity's sake. I'm pretty sure Hasbro engineered the big green guy, and I want to support them. It'll also be nice to have a set to keep in vehicle mode.

I was having this conversation with a friend earlier, and he managed to convince me that Takara is the ultimate way to go. You're right about SDCC Metro, but I feel that getting him for show price (thanks, HasbroToyShop) was the perfect inbetween of Hasbro and Takara's offerings for me. With Devy, it depends on if I *really* want chrome that much and if I can get it at show price. Who knows how much all the extra Wu add-ons will cost, but Takara Devy should hit the sweet spot here with weapons and extra head, if Wu decided to make one.

I'm going with Hasbro's Devastator. I'll just upgrade him as time and budget allow, and in the end I'll be happy without breaking the bank. I like that I'll be able to do it piecemeal instead of one fell swoop, because that gets expensive and that's how a lot of collectors get in debt. I should know, I speak from experience because I've done it.

Yep, my collecting habits have kept me in debt for the last few years. What kind of adult am I?

The kind with lots of toys, if that means anything.

If we just shared a collection, we could start paying off debt! Or maybe just afford to buy even more (which would be the likely resolution).

It's good to have a laugh at one's self, otherwise I'd be more depressed about it. And then how would Dr. Wu stay in business with all these add-ons?

I thought TT's Devy would hurt Dr.Wu's plans, but I think there's still a lot of people thinking the same way as you. Wanting to find it in store for retail, rather than order the premium version online and THEN ship it. Also maybe they don't need TT's guns, or elbows, or paint apps. And maybe they just want upgrade kit #2 instead of 1 & 3. Y'never know. There's still plenty of pie for Dr.Wu to chew on.

I've decided, that if I can't get any upgrade kits for Devy, I'll be happy with him how he is, but I am hoping to get at least the Dr. Wu set, that has Hook's extending crane, Scrapper's arms with elbows, and whatever else comes with that set. I am also hoping Dr. Wu comes out with at least some arms for Longhaul, but maybe, just MAYBE, some less ugly and flat ones for Hook and Mixmaster. >:oP
