Favourite LOCKDOWN??

Postby ang3l3s » Sat Mar 20, 2010 1:38 am

What is your fave lockdown and why???

4 me it's a toss between stealth and ROTF

I must say this is one of the coolest new characters to be made that has no ties to the past.
ie: homage , similar name or characteristics.

A) ROTF

b) blazing

c) 1st one

d) stealth

Weapon: Reciprocating Laser Cannon
The normal first Animated. Rotf is just a rip-off, Blazing has ugly colors, and Stealth looks like a goo.

I actually like Stealth the best, it's a greast concept that fits the character.

I only own the original Animated one so far, but I gotta say the ROTF version looks completely badass. Hopefully he's just as good in real life.

I like and own all except for the blazing version. I would have to go with the original, but I'm huge TFA fan. The ROTF version is excellant as well, but I prefer the original.

I really don't care for Animated very much, but the original Animated Lockdown was engineered amazingly well. I have that one, and it is awesome. I haven't had the chance to see the RoTF version, so I can't say one way or the other. Stealth is neat looking, but I really don't like the Blazing version.

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome mold though.

I just bought the RoTF/NEST Lockdown. I think it is a very interesting figure, and it really looks good. I still like the original Animated Lockdown better, but both have merit. I really just think the original is amazing-it has a great transformation, it is sturdier than the new mold, and it is a near perfect representation of the character in the cartoon.

I heard numerous complaints about the hips on the 1st lockdown making it unable to stand.

I don't agree-I haven't had any trouble with my original Animated figure. I have transformed him as much as any other figure I have too. The hips could be a little tighter, but it hasn't caused me any problems. :D

I've had no problems with the legs on my original Lockdown either.

I'm a big fan of Animated Lockdown, but ROTF Lockdown is superior IMO. The joints are tighter, it feels heavier and more solid, the paint job is better, the mold is more detailed, and he has the most pose-able head of any TF I've ever seen.

I'm a pretty big fan of the design of this guy.

I really like the original, and the blazing repaint looked pretty cool too.

I didn't like the ROTF version at first, but after a little fiddling, I really came to like the asymmetric design.

I skipped the stealth version, and I'm kind of sorry I did.

Well, i guess that would be my order for them :)

My two favorites would be Blazing and ROTF.

Least favorite is ANY of his Activator versions.

Blazing-

PROS: Sturdy, and like the brighter colors. 'Con insignia is larger too. The buzz-saw is cool too, appropriate for a "parts collector" like Lockdown, and is just enough of a change to elevate him over a mere repaint.

CONS: What were they thinking when they approved this design with hands that don't flip all the way out? It looks ridiculous, and I don't like to be cutting or shaving bits off my figures to correct it. Also, some color apps missing such as his shoulder spikes and arm detailing. And lets face it, a couple more tiny "upgrade" tools/weapons included in the set would have been perfect.

ROTF-

PROS: Insane detail in comparison to TFA versions. Hand (singular) can be straightened. Does an incredible job of capturing the movie aesthetic while staying true to the by now recognizable Lockdown style. This is also a case where I think the saurian-like knee joints actually benefit the figure, adding some variance rather than the straight up and down legs of the TFA version. Nice BIG hook this time.

CONS: Rubber ( of all materials! ) hand and hook. Anyone wanna start placing bets as to how long those will last before they melt or turn brittle and crack apart? Also, only one hand, and as with the TFA version, does not really capitalize on the upgrade scavenging nature of the character. The hook and the EMP motor simply are not enough!

I only have the original TFA version and the Blazing version so my pick goes to the original...until I get my hands on the RotF version.

The more I mess with the RoTF version, the more I like it. I think it is amazing from a purely visual standpoint in both modes. I think it looks freaking awesome. However, I have to go with the Animated version still. It is so sturdy, and the alt mode is solid enough that a kid can actually play with it like the car that it is.

As a display piece, the RoTF version is excellent. As a toy, the Animated version is better.

I say buy every single one. None are "bad".

Between the RotF and the Animated, I'd go with the Animated. They look amazingly similar but, the Animated feels better made and stands taller than the RotF Lockdown.

I love the Animated version, but the RoTF version just looks awsome.

ROTF. They took a badass design and made it even more badass. Animated feels hollow and the angled wrists are just wrong.
