The black looks WAY better than that.
I saw the thread post and thought, maaaan, red's gonna look like crap on that mold. Then it was blue and I thought maaaaaan, that looks like crap on that mold. All the other repaints make some sense whether they look good or not. This is just...just...Why?

Let's see...a blue truck.

Skids Was the first one to come to my mind.
I can see a little of Kup in him too.
But to me, he looks more like Pipes.
There are alot of characters this could be, from Motormouth to Ultra Magnus to even Armorhide.
Although he could still be Ironhide.
Or a new character.

But I'd be willing to bet it's still the Ironhide character, but maybe this is an upgraded form. Which they may end up calling Armorhide. Or just call him him Night Attack Ironhide. But really, how much more night-camo can you be than black?

Not different enough, nor is it better looking than the original. The yellow isn't the nicest choice for colour on his legs either. I'll pass.

If he had have been a dark shade of red, I would have gotten him in a heart beat.

It'll probably be "Artic Rescue Ironhide" or something, seeing as most other movie figures are getting a repaint, yet keeping their name and character.

To me, aside from the blue, this one looks to make a more accurate colorscheme to the robot whereas the other gave a more accurate colorscheme to the vehicle. If you look at the robot in the movie, his truck parts aren't exactly bright & shiny like they are in the vehicle mode....edges are worn, paint chipped....just like this blue one. Also he's a tad brighter & grayer as a robot. It might be what this is meant to represent, while making him different enough from the first one to warrant a second $20 purchase.

......Personally, I would have perferred red with gray trim.....

Although, it'll more than likely be something lame like Stealth Optimus or Recon Barricade... it'll be something like, Night Strike Ironhide or something comparitively retarded.

just how long are they going to try to milk every last cent out of our pockets with these terrible repaints? at least the g1 inspired repaints make sense but ones like these are totally useless in my opinion.

But repaints are Hasbro/Takara's bread and butter, they've been doing it since the '80's. Another thing to consider is that for every repaint they do, there will always be people buying them, no matter how nasty they look.

Other than the gray spot on the door that makes him look more worn, this redeco does little for me. I might get him if I like the mold and there's nothing else new tha I want when I see this in a store, but I won't be fretting over this one. For some reason, the robot mode colors make me thing Beast Machines Optimus.

Recon Barricade, on the other hand, I think I like.

Ugh, the movie line hasnt produced one good repaint yet.
The line just doesnt lend itself to repaints.

Even worse, they are going the way of all superhero based toys with ridiculous monikers like nightwatch prime. What the hell is nightwatch? prime repaints himself at night?

Nightwatch should be followed by the name Batman, not Optimus Prime.

I like the color scheme of navy blue/aqua blue, but the yellow paint on the legs is disgusting.

I won't buy tho because I already have the black Ironhide and IMO, it looks much better.

Not a big fan of the color red, so I won't complain about that.

And even if they do change his name, I can't in good conscience have the two figs in the same display. There is nothing remotely different from the orginal. It would drive me nuts.

I gotta go with the guy in the blue Klan suit here.
We accepted that black is the only other color Ironhide belongs in. Ironhide belongs in red (a popular GMC color, mind you; maybe PMS 200) with black and dark gray (PMS 425 or gunmetal) minor details.
While I love the shade of light blue they're using (PMS 2985 or 299 I hope), I'd prefer those missiles were chromed.
