That sounds right and would be around the time of their typical fall toy reset period. Now, with that said, I will be shocked to see this in stores and would assume it to be an online-only item like the Coneheads (sure, there are very isolated reports of the Coneheads in stores but that's likely returns or just a stray misdirected case or pallet.)Agamemnon wrote:To switch gears a bit, I think Target was going to be the distributor of Trypticon. Was August the release date, can anyone remember? Thanks in advance!

Target's also supposed to have the Blaster and Perceptor set right? I wonder if they'll be coming out around the same time.

That scared me because that sealed the temporary fate that Hasbro wouldnt be designing a new figure for her (as part of the 20th anniversary for instance). But most people were ok, and instead quite extatic about this release.
The dinobots are being released now as retooled versions of previously released molds (yes a new head is considered a retool) and it seems to be the reverse reaction where most are unhappy. So I wonder why it was ok for Takara to do so with Blackarachnia but terrible for Hasbro to do it with the Dinobots?

Here is is. These 3 takara only figures are all retools:

And no one said a thing about preferring original molds. And this wasnt even Hasbro, it was all Takara. Would there have been more rage if Hasbro pulled a stunt like that on Blackarachnia?

In addition to expecting the G1 molds, Blackarachnia was more accepted than these Dinobots likely for all or most of the following reasons:JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:william-james88 wrote:There is something I dont get here. I believe it was all expectations and hope. We've always kept it in the back of our minds that a new Blackarachnia could be a retool of a good figure. In that aspect we were correct.
But the Dinobots steered us kind of in the wrong direction. Looking at the Generations Platinum Series, they've all been G1 reissues of up to now (well, all used G1 molds). So naturally, any release with all 5 Dinobots, in a reissue-like line, with the original molds supposedly lost, would create a lot of expectations... Only to have them dashed with the worst-case scenario. Cue the fan rage! Bring your torches and pitchforks!
In this case, it's better to expect the worst more, than hope for the best.

Nope, all new Legion mold. Doesn't look too good in all honesty.

Yeah, and its not really related to any of this.
Also, while I do understand that people may not like movie molds, I really find that Snarl's transformation to be a close update to G1. And you get a very similar result too, with the tail opening in the back, the spinal column looming over his robot back, his legs made up of the front area of the stegasaurus. I highly doubt people would call that a movie design if ever it was released initially under the generations line as opposed to the movie line (especially in this deco).

So it does feel like a downer when they didn't put up the original guys.
Btw, as I too am a "bit averse" to the Movie aesthetic, were the bas molds of the AOE dinobots any good?

With the expeption of one or two, most AOE Dino molds got great reviews.
I have all of them and appart the blue dino, I love them all.
