Loose ball-socket joint repair?

Postby Phantron » Sun Mar 21, 2010 2:37 pm

Weapon: Plasma Cannon
I need some help,I have a ROTF Soundwave figure and his left leg hip joint is incredibly loose to the point where he can't even stand up. Is there a fix for this problem or should I just shell out $10 for a new one? Any recommendations? :CON:

A lot of people suggest clear nail varnish or the super glue trick. Since I don't like permanently altering my figures, I'd suggest the paper trick. Basically tear off a smallish piece of paper and stick it in the socket then reattach the joint. That should take care of your problem easily enough.

Help with loose joints.

I'm semi new to collecting TF figures but I recently got a animated Skywarp and love him but a lot of his joints are extremely loose. Mainly the bar joint on his right leg and ball joints at his elbows. Is there a effective but easy way to fix this without harming my figure?

Ball joint elbows? I thought the only ball joint he has is his neck.

I'd never thought of the paper thing. That's a good idea. Try that first. Then consider super glue but make sure the glue is well and truly dry before reassemble! I've found it better than nail varnish. If you make the joint too tight you can sand it down again.

I just want to say that my Soundwave also has this issue, must be common. I use the middle satellite prong (the one that is like his "coat tail") to hold him up.

The paper fix sounds like a good idea too.
