custom G1 Hot Rod HELP!!!
Hey I'm having trouble with this former. I'm making a Hot Rod Scratch-build from an 89 firebird model kit and one of those Neo Shfiter bots. I've found though that legs don't fold the way I need them to. I need the legs to completely collapse onto themselves to fit in Alt Mode, Sorta like Clocker, But I haven't found anything big enough to fit and look good aesthetically yet. Any help? Oh yeah the Firebird is about 1:24 scale, same as Alternators.

I have yet to work with neo shifters. Can the legs be modified by cutting/removing access material to fold closer? Have you looked into bionicle limbs? There is a wide assortment of pieces that fold well and with some minor mods can manage more positions/folds. I'm working on a 1/25 scale pontiac banshee that is mostly bionicle pieces. I need to purchase some material for filler. Good Luck, looking forward to see what you came up with.

Thanks much prime. I think I'm gonna go find some Bionicle Legs because the legs on Neo Shifters will basically turn to scrap if cut. I just need to figure how to connect them.
The other problem I'm finding is that Neo Shifter are very thin-bodied. I need to what I can use to fill in the empty space. Help?

milliput or other modeling putty that'll harden would probably be best. I tried working with sculpy, you have to heat it to cure it. I messed up the legs on a mini-con that I was trying to convert into a headmaster, too much heat. I have some bondo, but haven't tried using it for filler. I'm kind of concerned about the chemical reaction on the plastic.

Where can you get stuff like that? Hobby shops?

The sculpy and bondo I've used, came from Wal-mart. Mili-put and other modeling putties you should be able to find at a hobby store. The nearest hobby store to my area is about 45 min away. Hobby Lobby.

Sculpy is great but needs to be cooked/heated to dry. I've had it crack on me too months after it's been hardened.
Nice to sculpt with, but you almost have to make molds of the stuff you create if you want it to last forever.
I prefer Apoxie sculpt: http://www.avesstudio.com/Products/Apox ... culpt.html
This stuff is great! It is a self hardening 2 part epoxy clay. You have like a 3 hour working time, and during each hour the consistency changes. It starts out like a mud, then it is more like a traditional clay, then when it is starting to harden you can do detail work with it & cut it very easily.
I understand their fixit sculpt is even better, but I've never used it. I've been using the same 1 lb tub of apoxie for several years!
Good luck!
