hi, sorry if the answer to this exists any where on the forum, but i'm meant to be working, and don't have time to look--i read somewhere it's possible to dye plastic, and just wondered what stuff would i use/and where do i get it from. I'm looking to repaint a slight kitbash of energon megatron in to g1 megs colours. I particularly want to try it with the thigh area, since it is a sore spot for paint scraping. Also is it viable to dye a dark plastic with a lighter colour?
Thanks any help would be appreciated, especially on what product, and where best to get it. I still consider myself a beginner.
cheers

Simple answer, yes, it can be done. You just get the tie dye stuff that people use for dying t-shirts.
You have to be careful though, if you don't get the water to the right temperature, it won't work. If you leave the plastic in the water for too long, it will warp.
EXPERIMENT FIRST!
Don't dive in to your Megatron piece and expect it to work first go.

no worries there. I'm pretty experienced with painting customs, I learned from plenty of mistakes on my first try!! But I have 2 successes behind me, so he'll be fine.
the kitbashing has created some nice left over pieces to practice on, so if i stink at dying plastic, no innocent tf's will get hurt!
thanks for the info...
