Alternator Runamuck

Postby DonnieFandango » Sat Oct 28, 2006 6:13 pm

Due to Hasbro's overestimation of how many alternators they could sell at the beginning of the line, I've been able to buy several Smokescreens and Silverstreaks for customs. Here is my latest one.

The windows are tinted dark, but not nearly as dark as the pictures make them out to be. They are still translucent. Also, the pictures are too blurry to show the liscense plate, which I thought came out well. Here is what I used:

Super happy funshine Kentucky plate. I thought it went well with Runamuck's personality. Anyway, here is the bot mode. Pretty much just a white Smokescreen with a Cybertron Runamuck head.

And finally, a group shot with my other Decepticon repaints. I decided a while ago to try to concentrate on Decepticons to help balance out the pretty lopsided numbers Hasbro was releasing.

Nicely done. I can't help thinking a little yellow might make it a touch more G1, but to be honest, the plain white may actually fit better. What does the gun come from?
And any chance you'll be using one of those overstock Silverstreaks to make Runabout?

Not bad. However, If you wanted to be more G1 accurate, using either a Sunstreaker or Tracks model would have been better since both Runamuck and Runabout have their car roofs for chests and their front ends for lower legs and feet.

Yeah, the transformation is different, but like I said, I had a lot of subarus clutterin' up the place.

love the gold, although he could do with some orange or red or orangey-red, or more than one of the above.
I disagree that he should be more plain white. bleh. then how would you even know it's runa...guy.
bleh. so tired of Alternator repaints though.

I didn't mean more plain white; I just meant relatively plain, as it is, as opposed to the embellished (yellow or something) arms that I originally suggested but then thought better of.

I'm not familiar with that mold so I don't know if it would work but can you paint anything under his head orange? the G1 toy has bright orange only around his head from the front view and it would also help make the face stand out!

Here is a quick digi of a more toy accurate Runamuck

Right now he is more toon accurate:

It is something that I had considered doing. I also thoght about switching out his legs with a Silverstreak to give him some more red. In the end, I didn't do either, but I always kept in mind that I might do the red behind his head thing if I thought I needed it.

As for the gun, its from a $3 set of fake GI Joe type toys from Big Lots. For $3 you get 8 guys, each with a pretty decent gun. This is the only one that is really alternator sized, but I'm making one of the smaller of them into a gun for Classics Bumblebee, 'cause it's just his size (adorable).

That looks cool! And it gives his head detail some boundaries!

I'm liking the orange detailing idea. But like I said, I think the red legs would be better saved for Runabout, probably by making him from a Silverstreak to start with, to help distinguish them more.

Great Runamuckabout there. I may do something similar if I can find another Cybertron Runamuck cheap. I can't justify buying another one just for the head when I already have one crappy crappy body laying around.

Thanks, I'm not really calling it Runamuckabout though... that was just a joke for the title, heheh.

Anyway, I know what you mean... I want to make another to have the set but I can't bring myself to buy another Cybertron Runamuck just for the head either. I keep hoping to find a junker at a garage sale or swap meet for really cheap that I can use. :)
