Jazz/Bumblebee dilemma
I’m really torn here. I’ve actually grown to like the G1 repaint of Deluxe Jazz and am seriously considering getting him. If I do, it might be one of the last movie purchases I make (with the exception of maybe getting NW Leader Prime). However, I’ve been really let down with my 2008 Bumblebee. While it’s a cool sculpt and is considerably better than the 1976 version, the build quality reeks. I was transforming it back to car mode last night and nearly broke it multiple times. How young kids are supposed to get any enjoyment out of these latest figures is beyond me. I know I’m preaching to the choir to some of you as I’ve read some prior comments but I guess I’m just at the point where I need to convince myself that Jazz won’t be another letdown. Should I even bother with him?

Jazz is a good solid character. The only quaffs I have with him are that his arms are a lil' complicated to transform, are a lil' flimsy, and are limited in articulation. If you can get past that, he's a pretty fun char to transform. Even though he's no where near my fav, I still enjoy him.

Do you have either of the other movie Jazz figures? I think he's fairly solid, build-wise, and my only semi-gripe would be his hands, but I do really like the figure still.

Actually I don't so I thought the G1 version would be nice. I just guess I don't like the overall quality of plastics for any of the deluxe figures. But some do seem sturdier and less top heavy than others.

Yeah, if you don't already have one of them I'd pick this one up. I'm really fond of the G1 style on him.

Bumblebee has a lot more transforming parts then Jazz does, so that's where the sturdyness *quality* comes from I guess. I just can't stand how un-articulated Jazz is, and I feel I am breaking him if I try to strike a pose with him. Bumblebee is s o easy to get in a pose without worrying about busting him, for me at least.
I still say, a Jazz made like 08 bumblebee would be the best ever. HE COULD DO A BREAK DANCE POSE

p.s. buy who you like the most, end of. One day down the road you might want the other, and you'll be able to get him somehow!

I thought Jazz was a lot more articulated than I was led to believe. From what I was hearing, I thought his knees didn't bend at all. Not the case. I've got no problem getting him into poses I like, and for some reason the light-piping in his visor is my favorite of any TF I own.

Buy G1 Jazz, and you will be a happy panda. =D
I almost didn't wanna buy him cause of the whole Jazz has uncool hands but I did, transformed him..I wanted to lick him all over. The G1 paint job is so sexy. Almost made me wanna buy the actual G1 Jazz off Amazon =O

I'll probably go back and get him today-I think that he’ll still be there. Glad to hear he’s a bit sturdier than BB. After the Deluxe Brawl that I returned due to the build and arm design and BB being so delicate to transform, I was losing my faith in this movie line. I do have Leader Brawl still in the box so I hope opening him will change my mind too.
I do agree, these deluxe figures would have been nice larger to be more in line with MP Prime. I had BB set up next to him and he just looked puny.

He's definetely cool. I've got one MISB if you have any probs finding one, it's down in the Trades thread.
Thanks for the vote for him. I’ll let you know if I’m in the market for one after tonight.
I agree too, it’s a shame he and Barricade suffer from bad arm/hand designs.

Thanks, Tweezy

Well, I pulled the trigger and bought him today. I haven't had time to open him yet to really check him out (was busy playing Dad) but I am glad I did now. It is a great homage to the original. Now I just wish he and BB were more in scale with one another. Oh well, can have everything with these guys. Thanks for the push in the right direction on this one-good call.

LOL  It just need an orange paint job. :P
Well, given your repaint expertise, you could make it happen. BTW: based on your leader repaints posted yesterday, you've inspired me to attempt some of my own.
