Hello all! This is my latest creation from the A.O.E lineup and is based on the leader class Grimlock, although Hasbro's version is voyager sized compared to mine, but lets just say it's leader class.
I did many different things to this figure to best represent it's onscreen looks and built him mainly in front of my computer. Other than his appearance, I have added functionality for playability as well as different poses which are impossible with the stock figure.
First, my Grimlock is electronic! It features both eyes lit up with bright red LED's. There is no on/off switch. The light up feature is triggered when you manually open its jaws from the closed position going down. Once completely down, the eyes are turned off. Then from that position all the way up, they are off, so you can display him with his jaws closed and anywhere in between both LED's on or off (I have a short video demo on youtube). This was accomplished by using an angled side mount tactical switch strategically placed at the apex of his jaw and careful gearing for contact. I designed all this around the stock configuration to ensure that the transformation stays stock.
Grimlock's new legs now have an extra joint to be anatomically correct and allows for more natural poses such as running, leaping etc. His tail also articulates from side to side as well. There's a lot more I left out as it will take quite some time to cover them all. Mainly, the figure is electronic, much larger, movie accurate, and best of all, it is 100% fully transformable!!
Besides the stock parts, nothing unbolts off the figure. Cybertronian glyphs are placed throughout the figure wherever I have noticed them from photos. Enjoy the pics. Any questions, suggestions, or comments are always welcome. Thanks!
