I was thinking back about some terrible stuff Transformers as a brand has had to endure. Energon just seems like one of those shows that his universally hated by TransFans. But I do have to wonder, is there anyone out there that can come up with something good to say for the show? I think that there may be people that don't actually think it is garbage (just like I actually liked the Green Lantern movie and don't the Bayverse is really that bad). So, please, present your arguments and see if you can convince anyone to have something positive to say for the show for once.
P.S. Only the show, not the comic. I don't much about DW's Energon comics as I haven't read them.

Well, everything has some good qualities. The soundtrack (the background music; most certainly not the horrid opening) was pretty decent for what it was; Demolishor did show some interesting promise in the first few episodes thanks to his conflicting loyalties; and when they use traditional cel-shaded animation it's pretty good traditional cel-shaded animation.
Unfortunately there's very few times they use traditional cel-shaded animation, the decent music is drowned out by the incompetence of everything else going on, and anything interesting happening with Demolishor was obliterated the moment he was reformatted into a mindless oaf. Oh well.

I've never watched Energon, only its Japanese counterpart, Super-Link. From what I've been told, they are vastly different, as the American version was severely dumbed down to little more than a toy commercial, whereas the Japanese version was actually an interesting story with engaging characters.
As for the comics, I liked them well enough, and have the entire series, but it was never finished, due to DW going under. It would have been nice to get a definite end to the stories. This way, I kinda have to consider Galvatron and Scorponok's showdown and Scorponok's death kind of the ending, leaving the Autobots's side open-ended.

That honest-to-goodness epically-awesome Optimus Supreme vs. Unicron battle, hands down!
And Shockblast. Shockblast is awesome.

Oh god, Energon. I watched the (cut down) episodes on Hasbro's websites way back in 2007, so I got EVEN LESS of a coherent story out of it.
But anyway, the good points.
The music was decent, and at times actually pretty damn good. Some of the VAs knew what they were doing (which made the crappy ones even more irritating) and the better performances were great. The generics were actually pretty interesting, being made of mixed-and-matched model parts. Shockblast, as mentioned, was awesome, and his introductory episode rocked. The Unicron vs Optimus Supreme fight was legit amazing. The 2D animation (what little there was) was incredible and I'm extremely disappointed they didn't use more of it instead of that horrendous CGI. And the basic story and concepts behind it were cool, if poorly executed.
Plus, in the Japanese version (which I hear is infinitely superior to the dub, aside from the animation) Optimus Prime/Convoy is voiced by freakin' Kamina.

That is pretty awesome. It's no "Praise be to Decepticon" but it is still pretty cool. And hey, the animation actually looks not completely crap in that OP!
