DOTM Sideswipe actually looks decent when he's painted:













I did this a while ago-this was my first attempt at painting, so please forgive its blemishes

Nice work, Ubertenorman. Sideswipe does look far better with a shiny coat of silver on him!

As for getting a smoother paint job, I would suggest using spray paint or airbrushing for large surface areas, as it gives a much more even layer of paint.

But if spray cans or air brushes are unavailable to you, you might want to try thinning the paint [FFP works well as it's self-leveling, as long as you don't clear coat it with FFP again] and doing thin layers of paint for a smoother finish. A single thick layer of paint usually ends up looking uneven and lumpy.

I've done the same to mine, and was literally just about to post it up.
