Well it just came out today. I got my copy this afternoon and played it for several hours. I must say, this is, thus far, the best FPS I've seen thus far on the Wii.
I'm currently at the second world, following the Pirate attack that took palce a month earlier and now I have to get rid of a barrier by going to two locations. Seems this boss will give me the ice beam once I beat him. (I forget the planets name, but its a jungle-like place. it took be awhile to figure a few things out after getting stuck.)
I'm definately liking the interface with the Wiimote features, such as turning knobs, pressing buttons etc. There are a few porblems with turning and a limited ability to look around. Plus some of buttons can be confusing at times (hitting the ball while you meant to lock on, etc) I'm just glad you don't have to use the nunchuk to jump, like in that crapy verison of Far Cry. If you haven't gotten this game yet, I suggest you do so. It will definately keep you busy while waiting for other games like Super Mario Galaxy.

Good to hear it's a great game!
I just finished playing Metroid Prime 2 while I was waiting for it to hit UK shelves.
Would you say the movement system is fairly similar to Red Steel?
I heard that the MP3 setup is just a lil tighter than on RS.

My dad has played Red Steel but not MP3 and I haven't played Red Steel so I can't make a comparison. But you use the knunchuck to walk around and backwards, the Wiimote to look left, right, up and down, etc, the B Button to jump.

I don't have a Wii, but my friend does, and I was with him when he got it on Tuesday. I got to play a little bit, after Samus landed on the planet during the pirate attack(he was just demoing it, and was gonna play it for real later). I'll admit that though I liked the first two Prime's, I wasn't all that excited for this one, and it was gonna be one of my "I'll get it eventually" type games.
Well, after playing it, I must say that it has gone to the top of my list of games to get when I get a Wii(just under Smash Bros and Mario Galaxy). Oh my gosh, I was shocked by just how great the game played, and all the great events and story. Loved it when the robot bounty hunter was dueling with that giant space pirate mech. What really got me hooked though was the surprise of Meta Ridley. I haven't been watching any hype movies or screenshots, so I didn't know he was in it. And his appearance was great, he was just shooting something in the backround, and the fight with him in that reactor tunnel, blew me away.
And after that I quit, but it was enough to wet my appetite, so until I get a Wii(probably when I graduate college in December), I'm gonna play through Prime 1 and 2 again.

WHen I got the original MP, I thought it was good but good use improved fighting. I also didn't really like some of the exploration elements because of the FPS style and view. MP3 fixed all of the problems. Fighting is EXTREMELY intuitive and fun, exploration puzzles are clever yet plausable and yet again, fun, and the game is probably my new favorite console game. Yayzors.
The battles rule. Pointing to aim and pressing a button to shoot is as intuitive as a FPS is ever likely going to get, unless the guys at Retro decide to do a new Metroid console series to even things out for the next few years, since Dread is the only one that's currently planned.
I just beat Meta Ridley in stage 2. That was one amazing fight. While you're in the room, there's a big bottomless pit of doom. You know, like in most games. Well, Meta RIdley crashes down on the platform you're standing on and YOU SHOOT HIM WHILE FALLING DOWN THE THREE-MILE DEEP PIT. That was intense.
If you own a Wii and you're looking for a game, get MP3. It's the best game on the Wii and it's easy to find in stores.

Stuck on the Omega Pirate or Metroid Prime itself?
Sounds like the controls are pretty much the same as Red Steel. Cannot wait to get it at Christmas.
It gonna rock.
And just so you know, I've completed 1 and 2 100%.
It was worth 2 days of my life constant play.

I just beat the game 1st time through with 100%. Almost no help other than what was provided. I had a hell of a time finding the last energy tank. Imagine, it was just sitting on the ground, free to pick up, where I had walked by it like a million times. Does that mean it was easy. Sorta I wouldn't hsve been able to get 100% on my own if it wasn't for that Chozo Observatory. And the controls are much improved over the previous games. Like mentioned before fighting is way better. What would have made it even better is if there was a quick way to do a 180 like in RE4. What an awesome game! The only thing that disappointed me was no multiplayer! Hunters had it! Not even the split-screen that Echoes. And with all the Nintendo games slowly jumping on the online banwagon, and for all the time it took to get the game released, I surprized. This could have been Nintendos Halo-killer. And speaking of Halo, did anyone else find the 2 oddly similar?

Extremely similar.
I heard that people weren't too keen on the multiplayer included with echoes, so decided to drop it for MP 3.
Which is insane, cos I considered it a delightful freebie that didn't detract from the main game at all.
A multiplayer like Hunters would've been superb.
