Anyone want to talk some Baseball (MLB)?
Dude when the crappy Mets win they seem to be in love with that team
You didn't have to go through 1986 with that team being in your market
As for the Cubs
There is no way there going to pay A-Rod that kind of money each year
Hell they don't even spend to make this team championship caliber each year
They would have to really raise the prices at Wrigley to pay A-Rod
Remember Wrigley holds about 33,000 compared to the 55,000 that Yankee Stadium holds
Plus he said he wants to stay in the AL

It's official. The Yankees are in the playoffs, so we know all the 4 AL teams in the playoffs (only question is who will end up with better record, Indians or Red Sox?)
Meanwhile in the NL, nothing's decided yet.

Yanks win 3-1 over Rays
Sox lose 5-4 against Twins.
Sox 2 games up, 3 games left.
This is gonna be a close one...

Well, looks like the AL playof picture is all set unless the Sox get swept, which seems unlikely.
Indians vs. Yankees
Sox Vs. Angels
My ALCS prediction:
Sox vs Yanks
The NL picture is a mess though huh? Mets fans have GOT to be ready top jump out the window.

I think Torre isn't even thinking about the Division and I don't trust the Twins to sweep Boston
Its going to a great weekend and I hope the Phillies can win the the NL East

I found this on nypost.com
I applaud whoever it was that played Weird Al Yankovic and came up with this wonderful parody of "Meet the Mets" which made its way around the Internet yesterday morning faster than a Britney Spears YouTube clip:
Beat the Mets, beat the Mets,
Last place teams defeat the Mets.
Hanging sliders, minor-league speed, guaranteed to waste a seven-run lead.
Because the Met bullpen keeps fading away, October baseball won't be at Shea. Mota . . . Sosa . . . every game is now in doubt.
Can anyone who's on this staff get three men out?
I love it because I have never liked that ridiculous song

Ok, English guy here so I hope somebody could explain this:
Arizona Diamondbacks have supposedly clinched the NL West division, with two games to play due to San Diego Padres losing tonight (1.5 games behind as I write this)
That said, as I write this, the D-Backs are getting clobbered by Colorado (11-1, six innings in). If that scoreline stands, then Arizona will only be 1 game ahead of San Diego, with 1 game each still left to play.
Should the Padres win and Arizona lose on Sunday, that ties up the division, right?
Arizona has definitely clinched a playoff berth regardless, but wouldn't they and San Diego have to play off on Monday should they both have the same results?

um ok
I know they have to play monday if there was a tie
But i'm concentrating on th NL East as I want to see the Phillies win
Plus the NL West is too confusing for me to comprehend since I care nothing for that division

True, but if that is the case, then why have Arizona been crowned NL West champions?

If there tied for first they will be playing for the division and home feild advantage
The loser will be the wild card winner and won't have home feild advantage through out the playoffs or the World Series because since the AL won the All Star game they get the homefeild advatage in the World Series
The Dbacks did clich a playoff berth meaning there in but at this point as what the wild card winner or the Division champ

I forgot about the tie-break rule.
Turns out that if both the Division and Wild Card titles are up for grabs by two teams from the same division, it then goes on series wins. Arizona beat San Diego 10-8 over the season, hence why the D-Backs have been given the NL West...

The tie-breaker game between the Rockies and the Padres should be fun to watch tonight.

Man, it was insane watching the Mets collapse like this. It was like they saw it coming but could do nothing to stop it.
Anyway, no more Sean Casey (aka "The Mayor" or "nicest guy in baseball" in a Tigers uniform in 2008.
Tigers let him know that his services were no longer needed next year, with Carlos Guillen moving over to first base.

damn, whats with all the mets haters here? the mets ARE better than philly and i'm not just saying that cause i'm a lifelong mets fan. the mets collapsed, choked, imploded, and gave the division away. their lineup is better, pitching is way better, bullpen is better and the manager is way better. they just struggled at the wrong time in the season. i live in the philly arae and the phillies are just over-achieving. they're not this good and it will show in the playoffs. all they have is offense. their pitching is terrible and the bullpen is even worse. no pitching+playoffs=early exit.

As expected, Red Sox owned and pwn'd the Angels. >_> I'm already expecting the Angels getting swept again by the Red Sox, three years after the 2004 ALDS encounter.
