Well, to be honest, the two main reasons I prefer MTMTE are the art style and the fact that it's more light-hearted. Plus, I've never really liked the idea of Bumblebee being leader. I love mysteries, however, and if you think it's good enough, I might get it.
'Sid, did you just say they're continuing the original Marvel series? Will it be at the same quality level as the original, because if so, I'm in! And on the inspiration front, you're right, it is a great time to be a fan!
Autocracy, eh? I like good artwork, and epic Soundwave is always good, but not so into dark storylines and Richard-ish bots. I'll give it a whirl.
One last thing I want to note on the comic book front is that on 19 of the second issue of MTMTE, I swear I see Tracks, Cosmos, and Powerglide down there. (Even though Cosmos is much bigger than in G1. )
EDIT: Yeah, it's issue three. Soundwave is epic. Bumblebee is SO dead.

I agree on both points.
The art in MTMTE is definately better but the mix of styles across both main comics works well - although I have criticised the RID Starscream design as unnecessarily over-complicated, he just doesn't fit although it looked ok on Skywarp I guess. One of me personal hates is the meandering level of detail on RID, one minute a bot is all damaged and the next it's fine - that makes no sense. (Arcee however just looks irredeemably awful.)
The story in MTMTE is currently very Star Trek, boldly going where no bot has gone before, but without 'cons (or a 'regular' opponent to battle) risks stagnation. Last months Speakeater story was great. It could have done with not being concluded so quickly, hopefully we'll see more of them
RID on the other hand has the cons in it and so much potential but, like you, I think bumblebee is awful as a leader but the bots lack for options, but as I like the political intrigue im not totally off it yet.
The continuation of the G1/2 run starts with 80.5, due out next month I think, with any luck I should get the review gig on that too, I've been trying to track down issues 70-80 (uk version around the 300s as ours was weekly) so I can refresh my memory of them.

I actually have some of the Marvel UK Transformer comics. My friend got me a book of them for Christmas. (BEST CHRISTMAS EVER) My personal favorite was Crisis of Command.
On another note, I'm doing a persuasive speech on why there is something in the Transformers Universe for everyone. I figured I could use you guys as a source. Anyone got some specific reasons why you like Transformers? Or some good reasons to try Transformers out? (other than because it's awesome. It's true, but it's still an opinion.)

So I am guessing that the post by SmokescreenGT means that 'Screamer is his now? Is he just making a much needed post as an NPC?

Anyone interested in playing Starscream, and I mean anyone, will be required to put up an application complete with a sample post.
And no, SmokescreenGT did not automatically get Starscream, he's only NPCing him for the sake of the storyline and to keep the flow of the game moving.

- It's a scifi franchise that promotes the villains as readily and diversely as the heroes.
- The action figures are educational, require problem solving, cognitive and motor skills
- The design techniques used in transformer construction and design are evident in some of the most advanced mechanical devices available today, and were state of the art back in the early 80s
- Childhood memories!!!
- Differences in cartoon style between Prime and Rescue Robots
How do they work? I could go on all day about this lol, at my age you get pretty good defending a silly hobby like this

Like Ember said, I just NPC'd him to get things going. I have no plans to apply for Starscream at this time.

urgh.. i need moar coffee...
Delta - Transformers is one of those hobbies that, no matter how long it stays around for, its constantly being re-invented, updated and new features being introduced whilst remaining loyal to its core principles, that being robots in disguise, no matter what hairbrained scheme or ludicrous angle for the series that the creators ar trying out.
try finding something that can openly boast that without having to dilute itself to fit with the times!
and the other reasons psychout said too...

Well, what I've got so far is-
Thesis: There is something in the TF universe for everyone, and it is really worth it to check it out.
1st argument- There is a variety of genres Transformers cover. Only thing it doesn't have is a musical. (They should SO do that)
2nd argument- Many different branches IE toys, tv shows, comics, ect.
3rd- It's entertaining (here I give some examples, like the Itzy Blizy spider song, or a certain line from MTMTE)
Defense against opposing argument- Transformes promotes violence- The Transformers actually discourages violence in that it shows the aftermath and price of war. In several of the comics and cartoons, Cybertron is dead, consumed by the everlasting war. Plus, in the 1986 movie, there was even an Autobot massacre, killing several loved characters. On top of that, Optimus Prime dies, which is like... well, it's like killing off Optimus Prime. So, unlike other franchises, where everything turns out ok in the end, here it honestly shows you what can happen and what you can lose.
4th argument- Transformers, unlike other franchises, has evolved, and is evolving, but still stays true to its core. (Thank you SO much for that Baneblade)
5th argument- Transformers is a great creative platform
Defense against opposing argument-Transformers is a guy thing- First off, there is plenty of romance in the TF universe (IE Arcee, Springer, Hot Rod and Black Aracnia and Silverbolt) and I'm pretty sure that's not something most boys would be interested in. Secondly, in G1, there is a whole underground organization of just female bots, who handle things quite well by themselves. In fact, one of the only times I've seen a female be shown as weak and needy is in the Michael Bay movies, and most of the fan base, in including myself, agree they do the rest of the multiverse no justice.
6th argument- The Transformers has a worldwide impact. (insert my discovery of TF here)
That's it so far. I haven't included everything I want to yet, and I may edit some stuff out. Whatcha think?

I know, I know. It was just a thought. But they have done it with Harry Potter. I think it was a one night charity performance.

Looks like I will probably be starting a new job. I am definitely going to be moving back to Wichita, either way. Sooo...the upcoming month is gonna be a shade hectic. I'm going to try my hardest to not let it interfere with my fun commitments too much and ideally not at all. We'll see. In any case, forewarned is forearmed

Just a quick one from me: I'm afk 'til Tuesday with only my smartphone for 'net access so I'll still be able to run the HMW Bank Holiday tourney that's going on (shameless plug™), but wont be able to post in the RPG after tonight's entry.
I'll be leaving Psych and Mal in the delicate chain-saw fists of Baneblade and Phaze 'til I get back, they have permission to post for me if required.

If I had the benefit of RPGs in high school, I might have graduated valedictorian.
At least they made coasting through college a little easier.
