Quality Control.
Meaning they didn't work the kinks out before it left the factory.
They're correct, the '74 Camaro Bumblebee has it's share of problems, but that doesn't mean he's not worth a purchase. He's actually a pretty good figure, quite poseable.

Actually you can see BB scan the 76' somewhere on the http://www.sectorseven.org/ site. Just enter "codeblack" without the quotes as the password. Lots of neat behind the scenes stuff on the site.

Is ToyWiz.com gonna run a special boxset of both BBees? They had a set of HotRod/RodiumsPrime that I got, and Thundercraker/Skywarp, UltraMagnus/Takara ultimate ultra Magnus in boxset together, keep a lookout guys. I bet they will, they tend to do so.

Yes I just got it today, the 74, can't find any problems with it. I think it is the best TF toy I have actually. Hey is Auto-Morph another word for the 74 one??Autobot032 wrote:QC=

No. Automorph is a term used for a gimmick utilized by almost all of the actual action figures.
What it means is, a certain part of the robot will "animate" when you move another piece of it. In this instance, when you push the button on Bumblebee's hood scoop, it automatically moves the headlights and bumper forward, while forcing the nose of the car into position for chest mode. Also, when you pull his feet down, his kneecaps and calves/rear window slide into place.
Those are Automorph features.
A quick rundown of what's available, and on who: (Note: this isn't a complete list, seeing as I only collected the main in movie characters and no one else.)
Barricade*: None.
Blackout**: Shifting backpack and legs into place for robot mode will reveal head by flipping around the nosepiece of the copter mode. (not reliable and prone to breakage if not careful.)
Bonecrusher: slide a lever on his claw assembly and the claw swings upward like a fork. (Doesn't do much, doesn't really seem like an Automorph to be honest.)
Brawl: push nose of tank down (while forming robot mode) and tank treads swing up to form shoulders while head lifts into place.
Bumblebee: (already explained)
Frenzy*: None.
Ironhide: Pull feet down, panels and wheels will shift around legs.
Jazz: Lower the roof/windshield assembly and his head will pop up, car nose will jut out, and pull the fog lights in a bit.
Megatron: Twist legs at the knees and his kneecaps and feet will lock into place for robot or vehicle mode. Pull nose of vehicle mode into place and wings will open in vehicle mode, close in robot mode. Unhook lever on chest, and it will automatically move upwards while lifting up red shoulder pieces. (also activates lights and sounds.)
Optimus Prime: Pull down bumper, feet form. Slide lever on right arm, gun slides in place. Unhook the lever on chest, and his chest opens along with pushing his head up for robot mode. (also activates lights and sounds.)
Ratchet: Pulling feet into robot mode will open up kneecaps and calves.
Scorponok**: None.
Starscream: Pulling nosecone up for it's placement as the chest in robot mode will fold the wing assembly to the back for robot mode transformation.
*= packaged together as one toy, though they are two different characters. They interact.
**= combine together to make a special movement gimmick. (Kinda neat, kinda not.)
I hope this helps.
BTW...Real Gear toys do not have an Automorph. As the mainline figures progress, not all of them will have an Automorph either, such as Barricade. It's not always necessary.

Automorph = auto transformation. The design is not the same in the figures.

Nope. It's just an action gimmick. A really irritating, shouldn't be there because it's a pain in the butt, deploys if you just look at it weird, stupid action gimmick.
I'm just glad they didn't put it in both arms.

The automorph works great on both the chest and legs, but what I was most suprized about is that the car pannels break up during transformation in a manner very similar to what I've seen in the trailer.
08 BB is gonna be a great edition to my collection, but 74 BB is nothing to scoff at himself.
Granted, '70s Bumblebee isn't as awful as people seem to think, but he does have his share of flaws. His springloaded nose releases when you don't want it to, doesn't always release when you DO want it to, and is hard to get back into the locked position (which isn't helped by the defect found on some Bumblebees missing a tab/featuring a broken tab, or something).
Turning the robot back into the car is no parade. You must follow the instructions to a T or end up getting stuck. When (or if) you do manage to get him back in car mode, the seams are hideous, plus the nose often releases.
Robot mode isn't particularly interesting, plus the awkward-looking legs/feet aren't very well articulated (and the car roof parts on the back of the legs block the knees from moving too much).
Combine that with lame weapons, lack of transparent plastic, overall cheap-feeling plastic and the godawful movie design, and it's easy to see why some fans really aren't happy.
However, this new Camaro figure looks exponentially better than the 70s one.
I got my 74 Camero Bumblebee in a Two Pack With Barricade.
They're both deluxe, they're both movie versions and they both work just fine.
My Bumblebee does not have this apparent problem with the "nose" In fact it locks into place quite well. I have little to no trouble posing, and transforming my '74 Camero Bumblebee. I do infact like the '08 better, but I won't be getting thats till it comes out.
