Unless we are talking G1 movie, as I'd love to see a MP Cyclonus and Galvatron.
I wanted Concept BB as an Alternator/Binaltech. Blackout can sure benefit from masterpiece treatment, along with his partner scorponok.

But isn't DVD Edition (that is currently on clearance at Walmart) 100% plastic? I thought this is what they were referring to.
Nope, the "doors" that expose the matrix and other parts that are metal on the MP releases are still metal
kirbenvost wrote:Yeah, that's what I figured but I wasn't 100% sure (I don't own it, too lazy to look at the gallery) so I wanted to cover my ass by saying 'much less' rather than 'no'.![]()
So there you have it: Hasbro's DVD Edition Prime has no chrome.
Not even teh smokestacks, I just took a good look.

there's a guy on ebay that sells a pair of the takara chrome long smoke stacks for prime for $3.99, direct from hong kong. shipping was only a couple bucks so i took the bait and hopefully in a couple weeks my DVD edition prime will be sporting the cooler long stacks.
anyone know if it's possible to obtain the other chrome parts from the takara MP prime and put them on the hasbro one?

May not be possible. Unless you remove the wings, and arm kibble, and a lot of other stuff. I think the Movie Megatron design is not meant to last for a long time. That's why he appeared for only a few minutes and then killed off. If ever he returns, it's gonna be a different design.
As a consequence, the CGI didn't follow a realistic transformation. They just make a lot of parts disappear into thin air.

Anime colors? What's that?
I think he meant the Hasbro release of MP Starscream thats repainted to resemble his appearance on the G1 Cartoon.

Oh yeah. That one.
Bot looks mighty good! But airplane color a bit unrealistic.

I got MP Prime, Megatron, and Takara's Starscream. The only one I regret buying is Starscrem because right after I got him Hasbro announced it was releasing him in more accurate colors. Still, the darker greenish version does fit in with the way I like to display my cons (lotsa dark colors), so it isn't a total loss.
While alot of people are sayign he's fragile, I don't find this to be the case for me. Of course I haven't given him the drop test yet ....
Out of the lot of them Megatron was the most expensive, and I got him at Canada's TF Con too. I don't regret that buy at all though, Megs looks really awsome posed in my collection, but he's an iffy buy simply because of the price. And he has a lack of articulation around the arms (they go up and down, his wrists swivel, his elbows bend, but that's it!).
If you're gonna buy only one though I recommend Prime. He has the best articulation out of all three molds, he has the best proportions, and he probably has the best nostalgis factor (but that's pretty subjective). He's also probably the cheapest by now.

Are these decals included in the MP Skywarp package? Or are we talking about separate purchase of decals?

It looks like your decision was made for you.
id atually buy it if i had the money...so how much is the takara version of the toys? i just saw the video that Metal Ed posted and i think the takara versions are a lot better, they have a lot of chrome which is cool, but the price is helluva lot higher...im actually tryin to sell some of my toys to buy more, but im still with the movie line...
That's the 20th anniversary DVD version that's so much poorer. The 20th anniversary one (the one that doesn't say "DVD" in the name) is almost as good as the Takara. Check the photo galleries on this web site and you'll see. The DVD one was the first American run of the toy, I believe. The non-DVD one was a later run that corrected many of the flaws of the first run.
Remember, DVD = crap.
I'm not sure, but I think you may be incorrect. The 20th anniversary prime(no DVD) was released in 2004 as an anniversary for the original Optimus.
1984-2004.
The DVD Prime was released in 2006 as an anniversary to the Movie Prime. 1986-2006. So, Non-DVD came before DVD.
Also if you really want to see the differences between DVD and MP Prime, look for Chucitron's comparison review on Youtube. Very insightful for those who are having trouble deciding which one to get.

MP
I have every MP except Prime and Magnus. Don't want Magnus, will be getting MP1 when I come across him for a decent price.
Stay away from the Hasbro versions - had DVD Prime and he was a floppy mess compared to MP1 (which I regretably sold a while ago)...
Better to pay more for the best than pay less for ...err....umm...the...the...umm... oh you get it

Yeah, I don't waste my money on those. However, the unavailability of Masterpiece toys in my area made me consider acquiring at least deluxe class toys. Classics and the Movie deluxe weren't bad anyway.
