I seriously doubt the DoD would contract Disney, an entertainment company, for weapons development. And even if they did (To get back to the original point here) how does buying Marvel Comics, Lucasfilm, and Hasbro tie into it? It's a company originally focused on cartoons, (later branching out into live-action works as well as music) buying a comic book company, a movie studio, and a toy company. How does that seem sinister?

I'm pretty happy about this news. I took a few weeks to think it over and really decide how I felt, and I'm of the opinion that more Star Wars equals good. I don't read any of the novels and I only occasionally see CLone Wars, but if the story ends up being good and interesting, then I'm all for it continuing. I know some of the EU stuff but nit enough to make some grand judgement on how I think it will turn out or what specific things I want to happen.

I agree. I think Disney buying Lucas Films is good. Like I said before about them buying Marvel, all they did was give them funding for better produced comics. Star Wars is already great with all of the comics, games, books, shows and movies. But I believe this is a good thing.

South Park did an episode on it the other night, mixing it with the election. It was, obviously, hilarious.

The merger of what? LucasFilm and Disney? I thought that was a buyout, not a merger...but I think it's too early to tell how Disney will affect the Star Wars brand as a whole. I thought episode 7 was as much miss as it was hit, but I don't know whose decisions were the contributors to that. Do Disney's shot-callers need to sign off on the movies' content? Or is LucasFilm still a largely autonomous division of Disney?

Yes. Not sure how. Along with Facebook. If you see some of these youngin's on their phones all zoned out, you would think it's already here. I mean, people don't go anywhere anymore without checking their phones every 30 seconds. They're like zombies already.
