Possessed Toys..

Postby Dreamchylde » Thu Nov 01, 2007 5:27 pm

Yes, I am aware its the day after Halloween BUT...

I bought a Voyager Class Thundercracker this last weekend and he's got a proud new place on my desk. Nothing special or out of the ordinary there, right?

Well, while I was working Tuesday a missile comes flying by me and skitters off on to the floor. I do the double take and realize that TC is missing a missile. Not that big of a deal.

Yesterday, I was 'shot' in the chest while working. Haha, very funny.

This morning, I sat down, took a drink from my coffee, set the mug down and a missile pops by and lands in the mug.

I realize that I could be bumping the desk and causing him to 'fire', but the mechanism to the missiles are on his elbows and he stands free and clear of anything that could hit them.

So I guess my question is, can toys really be that sensitive to random movements or does Thundercracker have it in for me?

Proof that even Thundercracker hates the Movie Seeker mold, and is taking his revenge on humans as a result.

I would try lifting up the flaps that make the missiles fire when he is pushed along a surface in vehicle mode as they make it very sensitive.

Yes.

The missiles are launched by springs, which can easily be set off by vibrations, especially if the springs are already inclined to fire. (mental blank on correct words here). Similar problems have been had lately with Movie Barricade and his "auto punch" but that is a 2 part problem, first the lever to release the "fist" and second the spring.

Remove the missiles, or if you feel up to it, you can try to take the launcher apart and re-align the spring. (Tough work, even if the gun is screwed together).
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

That's pretty funny. A true Decepticon!

I usually leave the missiles out and store them in his missile racks. I so love the Thundercracker and G1 Starscream voyagers. Even if they are sometimes naughty. They're jus attention whores, that's all. ;)

He's in figure mode so the spring load things weren't touching anything and I had kept his missiles in his cannons because they had looked cool and threatening.

And now that you mention Barricade, yeah his punch thing was a problem but only when putting him back together. It never triggered while I had him on my desk in figure mode.

So I guess I'll just have to teach the 'Con not to mess with an Autobot. :D
I've now posed him with 'Bee's plasma cannon aimed at his face.

I have heard of other toys being possessed. Such stories would include:

-Unicron's eyes/hand glowing/activating for no apparant reason

-Energon Scorponok's tail sound activating under its own power

and several other phenomena i cannot recall off the top of my head.

Maybe some poor chinese ppl died at hasbro/TakaraTomy's manufacturing site in some freak accident a decade ago and and live on in our toys? :|

I've seen a possessed toy before. A friend of mine had this dinosaur that would roar and it's eyes would light up when you pushed the button. The scary part is it did so without batteries.

We had one of those giggling Elmo head balls that would start laughing at random times without anyone touching it. Pretty creepy at 2:00 am when your home alone.

don't know if it would help but Screamer and TC have a clip on their elbows that keep the missiles from firing.

I remember having a Furby when they first came out that would randomly come to life without being touched. It got so annoying my gf at the time knocked him off my dresser and that solved that problem. As far as the Starscream mold, like others have said, the flaps on the elbows do help quite a bit.

He shot at Bee too. So we played 'disarm the Decepticon' and now he doesn't look as threatening.

On the plus side, I wrote a crack fanfic about it. :D

It isn't a possessed toy, but I had a digital alarm clock that came to life on its own one day. It turned itself on, and the radio played. Here's the thing. I was moving out, and it was unplugged and had no batteries in it. Now THAT is possessed, and it creeped me out. And to this day I can't figure out how it did that.

Get an exorcist  My cousin got fired in the eye by my Energon Arcee's spring loaded missile once (no, she's not posessed unfortunately, because a possessed toy would be pretty cool to me), needless to say, she harboured a hate towards her (Arcee) ever since then.
