The Dr Who (and spin-offs) Thread *potential spoilers*

This was a surprise...multiple Doctor Who references in tonight's CSI:NY.
A guy claiming to have a time maching claims he killed some one the next day just as he dies. The CSIs check out the guy's place with a time machine type device similar to the HG Wells description. To quote Flack "Whoa! Paging Doctor Who". Later, two flashbacks feature the machine in action, both featuring the traditional TARDIS dematerialization sound.
Have to say, this is a good time to be both a Doctor Who and a Transformers fan!

Those Cybermen look pretty nifty. Is it the camera lighting, or are they actually that shiny?

They're actually pretty shiny for lumps of plastic.

Is it just my imagination or do the new cybermen look like Iron Man's current armor with head phones on?

Per board rules, that information's not allowed to be posted.

Well, it looks like it's offical. New Doctor Who, having avoided jumping the shark for the longest time, now has not only jumped over it, but went back and did it a half dozen more times.
Peter Davison to return for Children in Need special.
It's funny, really. I always thought the casting of Catherine "She with the glass shattering voice" Tate would kill the series. Looks like RTD wants to get it done early.

If it's only a one-off for a charity special I don't mind Peter Davison returning but in general I think RTD is definitely trying to "Ruin The Doctor" before he leaves the helm. Series 3 saw a distinct dip in the consistency of episode quality and the only decent thing I've heard so far about series 4 is that the Ood are returning and even that is likely to be ruined by the Tate monstrosity screeching at them

Daleks ... turned into twits
Cyber-Men ... turned into twits
Sontarans ... turned into MIDGETS!
Seriously ... Sontarans are suppose to be huge and all muscle, this one is shorter than your average assistant! And the suit ... oh where oh where is the traditional black?
Geez at that height it wouldn't take much to get a knife into that hole in the back of their necks.
Nothing's sacred anymore.

Actually that's how Sontaran's do look. They got the head right at least.
But the height and suit is just so wrong. What'd they do? Employ the guy who put nipples on the Batman suit?

is she trying to look attractive there??
im really begining to think that im just gonna ignore this series or at least till tate buggers off.

I love the show but after watching all of Series 3, I kinda bored. It didn't leave me with the normal excited feeling I usually get. It didn't even get me wanting the next series. If not for BBC America showing series 2, I might have forgotten about the show until Scifi gets around to air another season in maybe a year.
I want to believe in the show but it feels like something is missing.

I thought this was worthy enough to bring the thread back from the dead.

About the concept, a DR. Who game would be awesome.
However, this Dr. Who game will suck, royally.

From what I gathered, the Dr. Who game will basically be a video game version of that Trump Top card game, only with Dr.Who in it.

A decent executive producer? Someone who wouldn't pull a stunt like this?
Alice Cooper pals with Dr.Who?
The lord of heavy metal could be hanging out with the Time Lord very soon. It’s rumoured that long-locked rocker Alice Cooper may be set for a starring role on long-running British series Doctor Who.
Doctor Who exec Russell T. Davies is said to have held meetings with Cooper and is keen to sign the aging rock-god for the series.
It is not known what part Cooper – originally named Vince Furnier – would play, though producers are apparently eyeing him up as a potential friend of the Doctor, played by David Tennant.
A source told Britain’s Daily Star: “Doctor Who has always been open to bringing in celebrities for cameo roles and the producers reckon Alice could be a big hit on the show.
“He’s not your normal squeaky-clean celeb, so he would fit in amongst the aliens and monsters that regularly give the Doctor a run for his money.”
Cooper, 59, is apparently a big fan of the series, and not new to the world of acting. His previous work has included roles in The Simpson’s and Wayne’s World.

Alice Cooper I could handle.
The disappointing news is Harkness will once again make an appearance in S4. oh yay. No doubt for the finale when everyone gathers together to beat up Davros who can suprisingly walk ....
And then that Minogue bimbo hasn't ruled out her character from the christmas special making another apperance.
I am really starting to go from disliking RTD to flat out hating him.

I'd like to point out that I was doing that before it was cool.
That said, welcome to the club.
Happily, not all is crappy on the Davros front. TVShowsonDVD is reporting that a bunch of Doctor Who DVD's are coming out on March 4th. They are "Destiny of the Daleks", "Remembrance of the Daleks: Special Edition" and "The Complete Davros Collection."

Now, they don't mention the audio dramas that come with the set, even though the box art shown does. Nevertheless, I want that box set. Here's hoping I've made enough money by then.

I was content to pick up the individual stories, however I had no idea they came with additional audio stories as well!
