The War Within Shockwave (concept art style) update 7/30/06
This is based on Don Figueroa's concept art of The War Within Shockwave. I installed an LED light in the left arm. Press a button and the gun will light up.

SA-WEET!
I see you're using those Lego Knights racheting joints as well. Aren't they nice?
Is this something you started a while ago or just after you finished your Cyb Fort Max? If the latter the case then, WOW, you work fast!
Also, it's too bad you're not entering this at BotCon, or even going for that matter.
We could have the year of the Scratchbuilds.
Can't wait to see this guy done!

I started this after Cyb FM. Probably around the same time you started HoS Meg. Yeah, this is taking me less time to do than TWW Grim because I'm not trying to make it mold-castable. Yup, love those lego knights joints...cheap yet effective. I would have used them for Grim too except it would be difficult to mold/cast them.

Oof! I know that feeling. Most of my supplies come from two of the three Hobbylands in Columbus. (not to be confused with Hobbytown USA)

Usually hit the TRU on Sawmill. That's the end of town we come in on, and we're usually going some place around there, anyway. It's also practically across the street from the one of the Hobbylands.
I don't remember if there's one on Morris, or not. I'm terrible with street names.

I'm glad you made the light up gun feature. He's really not Shockwave without it.

Update:
The turret/upper portion of tank mode seems to be too forward to me. I think I'll need to have the legs/back part of tank slide forward some.

it looks as if you could get the upper thighs to come to the back of the front treads that it would make it look a little better. just my thought though...

Actually I'm not done with the front treads yet. The front treads will be longer (addition to the back end of it) so that the whole front tread will end up almost touching the back legs.

Looking great VP!
From the drawing, it looks like the knees are even with the shoulders in tank mode. But the drawing of the tank is at a weird angle so it's hard to tell. What you have now doesn't look too bad.
From the look of your alt mode pic, if the thighs came straight out of the hips and then the knees bent at 90 degree angles it might be better. But then I guess that would make it wider.
BTW what thickness of styrene are you using? Also, will Shockwave be bigger or smaller than Grimlock?

Yeah, I didn't want to make it wider. Though, now that I thought about it, I might hyper bend it the other way, still angled but the other way to bring the knees closer to the front treads. As for styrene size, it varies. I use sizes from 0.02 to 0.08 inches. Mostly 0.04 to 0.06 though. Shockwave will be 8.5 inches head to toe, which is about half an inch taller than my Grimlock.
