Yeah, no thanks. Hopefully this is a sign that Version 2 is on its way.

They call me “Tanker Chungus”!

No, seriously. If mine shattered tomorrow I wouldn't be surprised. It's literally the only Transformer I've ever owned that I haven't transformed once. And I've been collecting since 1984, for god's sake!
A part of this I agree with (not transforming him since purchase). I transform the original version and the working TFC#6 (which fire real eye poking pellets).
Supposedly the 3rd release had the "Cosmic Rust" Issue resolved.

This is a masterpiece dudes! Not a freakin tonka toy to take to the playground!
Its an amazing feat of engineering... Anybody that cannot appreciate that is truly unworthy to own this in the first place. If u think its flimsy, why would u buy it?
This my friends is a piece of art, meant to be treated as such. U dont wipe ur ass with a painting, do you?
Love every masterpiece for the love of loving engineering and incredible balance and decision making that takes place to make this happen and exist!
Just ordered mine, and bought a new display case to hold him, king grimlock on his throne, mp 10 eva mode, and mp 10 bape... Art deserves to be displayed and treated as such...

Just because it's in the MP line, doesn't make it a masterpiece.

Given that time frame, despite the somewhat questionable results, Hishashi is an engineering genius.

Re: Transformers Masterpiece 30th Anniversary Exclusive MP-05 Megatron
I bought him when he first came out and Never Transformed him. When I saw reviews, too many people had problems and did not enjoy doing it. Also, some broke him or thought he might break.
Then MP-10 Prime come out much smaller scale and this made me sell both MP-01 and MP-05 as a set.
MY ***BIG QUESTION HERE IS" Will this be the same size as his past release, or down sized ?
Also, if Takara is releasing him again this way, we might not ever get a smaller up-date to MP-10 scale in the future of the line. As if we did, Takara knows that a lot of past buyers would be super mad to buy a not in scale MP Megatron 2 times to make money off of the fans and then release a well wanted new mini scale accurate Meg. to make even more money from the same fans.
Just my thinking.
So, if all is true, LOOKS LIKE A 3RD PARTY WILL MAKE A IN-SCALE MEGATRON TO MP-10 PRIME. They can get my money if so... We will see maybe in a few years I guess ?

Your thinking seems backwards, given past experience.
(1) First of all, this is a reissue of MP-05. It is NOT downsized.
(2) The MP-05 reissue seems to parallel the MP-01 "Final Edition", which was collectors' last chance to buy that Prime mold before they rolled out MP-10. Many believe this is our last chance to buy this mold before Takara rolls out a new Megatron. We hope, anyway.
(3) A 3rd Party Megatron would be a major coup and a HUGE deal - I doubt Takara would just let that happen without a response of its own. After all, Fans Toys' Acoustic Wave was cancelled because Takara announced an official MP Soundwave.
So, yea. We'll see.

Ok, so he is just a reissue of same mold. Well, I don't think it will sell very well.
You say Takara will not let a 3rd party do Megatron ? Hegemon, there is a triple changer coming of Megatron as a Gun, Bot and Tank and looks to scale as MP-10 also. Back to Hegemon, I know it's nota MP, but looks very nice to cartoon , but closer to Classics scale.
Anyway, I agree with you. I think we might get a more in scale New mold of MP Megatron from Takara down the road.

Maybe so, but is it still art when it's creator does not believe it to be so? By creator, I mean the main design team. They disliked working on this project since it was rushed by Takara. Because of the very little time given, they looked at the transformation of the original toy and tried to work in a cartoon upper torso and head. They knew the final design would be weaker than other masterpiece figures, hence all those tabs and pins to ensure things stay in place. They did not like the final product.
I do think that these designers are so skilled that they still made a great figure with the little time they had, but it still remains that this figure was rushed and it shows.
I think the mold is worth having, due to its imposing nature, but not at that price. To anyone interested, see if you can get it for 150 US$ shipped. I think that's a fair price for this toy.
Oh and one last thing, while some transformer figures may be more collector oriented, THEIR PRIME PURPOSE IS ALWAYS TO BE TRANSFORMED!

hegemon and that triple changer, neither are MP's. and theres just some things you dont do, like step on takaras toes when it comes to the "perfect" treatment of their most prominent characters. as its been said, the 3P MP soundwave was squashed by takara, and he's not even on the same level as prime and megs. i imagine if a 3P announces a MP(10 equivalent) megs, takara would let it sit for a month or two then announce theirs whether they were ready or not.G1COLLECTOR wrote:You say Takara will not let a 3rd party do Megatron ? no thanks. i've never liked mp-05. it's always has serious issues with stability, finnicky transformation and it never looked as good as mp-01. mine broke after falling off the shelf, i tossed it out and never looked back. i'm quite positive they'll do a new one eventually, like they also did with optimus and starscream

Nobody really knows the details and the deadline of this original project, fact. The "twelve days" story is just a story, not fact. The fact is this figure got the same funding and lead time as every other figure in the masterpiece line period!
Also, everybody disliked working on this project line is a load of crap, nobody knows the real project opinions of any person remotely close to working on a masterpiece figure.
Being a masterpiece does not make it a masterpiece statement is just a moronic line sir...
The redeco is going to be awesome, just like king grimlocks!
If u cant afford the figure, dont knock it, just say it like it is... Just say that its too expensive for you, and you cant pay this kind of money for a redeco of megatron, and you would rather save that money for something else!

I believe there is a big difference between saying I can't pay and I won't pay. I can pay 200$ for a worthwhile figure to add to my collection. I won't pay 200$ for another megatron.

LOL, I don't care who makes it, as long as he is bad Azz ! Takara, 3rd party, who ever. Hell, seems 3rd parties are doing the Dinobots , Prime, Megatron , on and on these days. If Takara or Hasbro will not give us what we want, some one else will. True Fact in today's market !
I just don't want this piece of crap !!

Translated interview with Hisashi Yuki from the Transformers Masterpiece Official Guide:
- I hear the first Masterpiece figure you created was MP-5 Megatron and you hold the fastest development record with it.
Y: That is right. (*laughs) I was not assigned to be in charge of it initially, but due to the circumstance within the company I was unexpectedly handed down the project. The schedule came with it and I was stunned when I realised that I was only given 12 days, about 2 weeks...To make it worse, at the time of my receiving the task, even the product size wasn't decided. was anyone complaining about price? all the people commenting appear to be previous owners of the figure, so they all bought one at some point.

Re: Transformers Masterpiece 30th Anniversary Exclusive MP-05 Megatron
Well said above !!
I don't care about the price, hell MP-10 has been over $300. most of the time from Takara. I just don't understand (WHY) would Takara put this out yet again knowing it was not what is wanted for the masses and to be in scale for MP-10 or the rest of the line. I mean Prime got a new design that people like to Transform , why go down this road on Megatron ???
Is this just another money grab on the mold before we get a new design of MP Megatron ??? I hope not, but looks that way.
I owned him already and sold him along with MP-01. Those 2 guys just stuck out in the MP collection too much to keep. Had to go unless you wanted to display them alone in your collection.
This is almost just funny to me... I thought this mold was dead forever after so many people had problems with it and hated to transform the dumb thing.......
