DX9 Toys - D06 Carry (MP Rodimus Prime)
Re: DX9 Toys - D06 Hotrod?
Guys, Thanks for all of these pics today. Think this is a beautifully sculpted toy in all modes.
Think this DX9 Rodimus Prime is galaxies better than Takara MP-09 Rodimus Prime.
Like how thick, beefy and bulky this DX9 Rodimus Prime toy is. Like how much articulation the robot toy has.
I'm going to enjoy Seeing DX9 Rodimus Prime transform like he did in the G1 Cartoon. Where the whole Truck transforms into a One piece robot mode toy.
Think this DX9 Rodimus Prime toy looks like a G1 Update toy. This trully feels and looks like a toy.
Always thought the Takara MP-09 Rodimus Prime was a update towards the SCF PVC Novelty trinkets or a Update for the G1 Animation cartoon art. Never really got a physical toy vibe from MP-09. It just looked more like a work of art that seemed too fragile to actually play with.
I own the Takara MP-09 Rodimus Prime toy. Never cared for how slim, skinny, narrow and fragile the toy is in robot mode.
Always thought it was a bad idea on Takara's part to do that weird transformations for the MP-09 toy. Where buyers got a Robot that Transformed into Hotrod then into a Robot Rodimus Prime. With a Transformation car for Hotrod. Problem with these Transformations was Rodimus Prime never Transformed for his alt mode. It was more of a parts former alt mode for Rodimus Prime.

I wouldn't get too excited for the trailer to be part of the transformation. There's not enough mass in that robot mode to accommodate it, it's probably a partsformer just like the official release, just without the Hot Rod mode.

Not really into this. It is nowhere near show accurate enough for me to double dip at the MP size and price point.
Had they made a Hot Rod that was about the size of the other MP cars and not Rodimus Prime, I'd be a lot more interested.

While this is all guessing on my part.
Think this DX9 Rodimus Prime does use all of the truck parts incorporated into the robot mode. Think this DX9 toy is similar to the Titanium Rodimus Prime toy. Where it's a one piece truck toy that transforms into a big robot toy.

Noticed most of the HasTak MP TF toys look more like fragile works of animation art. Instead of being designed as toys that need to be less fragile, more bulk in order to get played with heavily on a daily basis.
Think some of these 3rd party companies are creating less fragile, more bulky beefy, More stronger durable toys. That can be more played with. Examples, X-T Appoloyn Megatron, Bad Cube Wardog Warpath, X-T Scourge, DX9 Mirage, DX9 Chigurh Astro train, SXS Blurr, MMC Hexatron, FT Quakewave and so on.

Don't think you've got anything to worry about here.
Guessing and i'm pretty confident, Other 3rd parties have plans to create more Voyager scale Masterpiece cars bots from 1986 G1 season 3.
Noticed SXS released a Voyager MP toy for season 3 Blurr. So i'm guessing they'll eventually release a Voyager MP toy for G1 HotRod.

I know you're guessing, but I just don't think there's anything there to support such a guess.
Yes, Titanium Rodimus' trailer was integrated into the robot mode .... via huge ass lower legs. There's a whole lot more trailer in this vehicle mode comparatively and not a whole lot of places for it to go. Still, we haven't seen his backpack, so there's hope yet for that. If he does transform into an integrated Rodimus it may be worth it. Maybe.

It might all fit into the legs and that backpack. Those are, indeed, some ginormous wings that can take into account quite a bit of the "trailer."
[Edit] Photo credit to robotmel last page with a bunch of other pics that have me thinking that the truck might just all fold up into the bot...

It looks like his legs fold out to double their size, considering all 4 rear wheels are on the 2 legs. Combine that with the panels on his back, and it does look like the trailer forms out of the legs and back. Still waiting for official color shots.

That digibash brings out some of the detailing, like the double waist/crotch piece. I wonder if that is a pretense to a Hot Rod mode of the robot that is smaller. If not, I would rather see the smaller one eliminated. It doesn't look very good, IMO. On the other hand, perhaps with uniform coloring it wouldn't be as noticeable...

Re: DX9 Toys - D06 Hotrod?
Over at TFW Members are saying. That this is a DX9 Rodimus Prime truck toy next to the MP-01 truck cab toy. This is not the MP-10 truck cab toy in this pic here.

I'm no expert on the MP-01 and MP-10 truck cab toys. But I'm guessing this is the MP-10 truck cab in this pic. As I don't see any blue rectangular button on top of the truck cab roof in this pic.
Was thinking perhaps others here can help settle this debate. Is this the MP-01 or MP-10 truck cab in this pic.

I prefer the style that matches the animation art. I don't crash and bash my stuff into each other the way a 7 year old does. But, that said, I don't find the Takara offerings to be flimsy, generally. You can argue that HasTak Rodimus has structural issues, sure. That's one example. And if you wanted to argue that Megatron's elbows are too weak to hold up his fusion cannon I could maybe see that. Not true for my copy of him, but I've heard it can be an issue. But, in general I feel the MP line is pretty structurally sound.

You are somehow conflating show accuracy with a lack of durability. One has nothing to do with one another. But within your own examples you list Quakewave which is very show accurate, as well as sturdy.

Noticed SXS released a Voyager MP toy for season 3 Blurr. So i'm guessing they'll eventually release a Voyager MP toy for G1 HotRod.
But the SXS Blurr isn't very show accurate, which was my original issue with this figure. For my MPs, I'm looking for that combination of show and figure accuracy that the official line walks very well.
FT & Badcube seem to get it. Giga looks like it does too, though their stuff isn't in hand yet.
DX9 can be close. I just got Invisible (Mirage) and he is *almost* MP quality, but not quite, but Chigurh is far enough off from the animation models, original figures and real world vehicles, that I would not put it in with my MPs.
SXS & Warbotron kind of do their own thing, it just happens to be in an MP scale.
So, yes, I do hope one (or more) of the 3Ps tackle an MP scale Hot Rod, but I hope the "right one" does it.

For me, Always felt the MP-09 toy failed as a physical play toy. Thought it was always far to fragile, overly complex transformation, too thin and slim of a toy to play with it on a daily basis.
Think the MP-09 toy doesn't even really look like a toy. Think the robot looks more like a Statue with articulation.
My problem with the MP-09 toy. Was I felt Takara modeled the robot mode too heavily off the designs of the Takara SCF PVC 3 inch Rodimus Prime novelty toy.
Never cared for the almost no beefy bulk in the MP-09 robot mode. Don't need my leader class MP Robot mode toys to look like they went on a strick diet and lost all their beefy bulk. Think that anorexic slim skinny robot mode on MP-09 looks terrible considering the 1986 animation design had the beefy bulk in robot mode.
Need my faction leaders toys to have beefy bulky robot modes. Expecially if they get MP Leader class toys.

Here I was hoping for a Hot Rod along the lines of Invisible. I just transformed TRU Rodimus the other day and it just looks so bad with Magnus in altmode so I really wanted this to scale with the MP cars. Hot Rod would have been an instabuy but at the moment, this is a pass.

Re: DX9 Toys - D06 Hotrod?
But I thought some here didn't like that HasTak MP-09 toy? Are some who said this not posting in this thread yet?
Remember reading comments from some here. That the fragile parts on the MP-09 toy made the complex transforming on the toy a bit scary.
Think some here even commented that the Shoulders and knees joints are so fragile they snap off and break easily. Think some even bought those replacements parts.
Remember buying that Hasbro Masterpiece Rodimus toy. Didn't care for the new elbow joints. As they were more loose than the Takara Version. Returned that toy and got my money back.
Don't even get me started on the Takara MP-09 Version 1. That wasn't able to hold the big gun tightly in the fist. Had issues tabbing and locking in parts. The part where the yellow wing goes in for truck mode was too tight, causing scratches and paint chips. Version 2 fixed most of these issuses. Hasbro used new elbow joints that were loose that Takara never used on their versions. That's why I call the Hasbro version 2.5.

My guess is that it's the MP-10 truck cab mode. But i'm not entirely sure due to the blurry pic blurring out some of the finer details on the toy.

The MP line isn't really meant for play, more for display. They're too expensive to be just played with and thrown down. So your description of articulated statues is actually very fitting. That's what they're made to be.Tsutsukakushi wrote:Think the MP-09 toy doesn't even really look like a toy. Think the robot looks more like a Statue with articulation.

Didn't see that tiny blue rectangular gimmick button on top of the truck cab on those front page blurry pics. So I wasn't sure.
