The 1986 Movie [20th Anniversary Packaging Question]

Postby SonGokuGT » Fri Jul 17, 2009 5:41 pm

I just recently decided to revisit G1 with the release of the Matrix of Leadership boxset and I wanted to get my hands on the movie to get the full experience when viewing the series and introducing my little bro to it. I saw a listing for the movie that had a lenticular cover. I was wondering if this was the norm or a special version from a specific store as I've only seen it once.

Thanks for your help in advance!

If I remember correctly, the lenticular cover was not a store exclusive. However, not every copy included one.

Additionally, it wasn't the actual cover, it was a separate piece wrapped onto the DVD case (I have mine set aside to be framed someday). It's possible you could eventually find the lenticular piece without the DVD, if you're vigilant.

Good luck in your search.

Thanks! :)

Does anyone else have any tips of what I should look for in one these releases? So far I've come up with:

-Lenticular cover
-Original transparent DVD case
-Insert booklet

I'm disappointed I didn't spring the $30.00 for the disc when I had the chance. Ever since the release of "Revenge of the Fallen" the prices are insane! [About $60 on Amazon and eBay]

I would just recommend, if you can find it at a decent price, just buy it. Special cover or not. It's so hard to find now without spending a ridiculous amount of money.
I went to HMV and had them order it from another store. But there was only a few left in ANY of their stores.

I saw it in a used movie store last weekend for $8. No special cover, though. But I have mine if you want it...
