Girls and Transformers
I have a funny story about gender sterotypes and transformers... and is pretty much the reason why I will never wear my Soundwave costume to a bar ever again.
The elections night for that Soundwave campaign was in a bar, and I was in full costume. This drunk guy came up to me and asked "Are you a guy or a girl"
my friend said "You'll never know"
And then he asked me again, this time more angrily. And then I said I was a girl.
"GOOD! Because if you were I guy, I would have totally kicked your ass for dressing up as a robot! It's a good thing you're a girl, because seriously, I would have kicked your ASS SO HARD... You have to understand, I am a VERY drunk guy, and as soon as I see someone dress up as a f*cking robot, I have to kick their ass... so they lay an egg..."
At this point security came and pulled him off me... did I mention he and someone else wouldn't stop harassing me? I even took off my helmet. Anyway, it was pretty much a very bad experience but i think the take home message was if you're a guy dressed up as a TF in a bar, you're gonna get hurt. If you're a girl, you're considered a commodity. End rant.

Reports do suggest that the Batmobile did, in fact, lose a wheel, though.
And hey, Rally, as far as college town bars go, I don't think your situation was unique to persons in costumes. The drunk and belligerent always find some way to hassle the "inferior" male or angle for anyone without a y chromosome.
Of course, I don't even go to bars these days since I don't drink. So maybe everything I have to say is tainted by the biased stink of sobriety.

I still wouldn't wear such a fragile costume to a bar, or any other area where it may encounter damage from physical sources or spills.
Incidentally, if you need to repeat that performance, I'd reduce the gesticulations used in it- Soundwave does not express emotion.
It just appears a bit odd.

Of course they won't stop harassing you, you're a woman...in a bar...and in a bar they're in...
Liquid courage allows many people to do things they would not usually do, often with embarrassing results. Sounds like you could have pushed the guy over with ease, if he indeed tried to start making one 'lay eggs'. What you have to worry about is when a gang of them come at you...that gets difficult.
Sorry for the bad experience.
So Soundwave costume...were you at Botcon last summer???

Yeah, that's probably the reason anyway. I had this whole plan to be an ass in the bar and start harassing people as Soundwave, but these guys really put me in a bad mood. Anyway, that aside, no I have never been to a Botcon in my life

Hiya. I like Transformers. Starscream, too, for that matter. He's got a memorable personality AND he's a ghost/zombie/Frankenstein's monster (Guiltor!).

My girlfriend isn't exactly a big fan, but she DOES love Bumblebee. She also bought me an Optimus Prime fro Christmas, and Classics Cliffjumper for Valentine's Fay ("Because he looks like Bumblebee, but he's red like a valentine's heart")

Got you beat!

My girlfriend wears a Decpticon t-shirt (skin tight) occassional we we go out clubing, aswell as buying me ridiculasly large ammounts of tf **** (and occasionally licking my tf tattoos, but you dont really need to know that do you?)
Rally i hate to say this, but if u are in anyway hot, or the guy way ugly/hammered then he was most likely hitting on you. Ridiculas i know, but there it is. Men are stooooooopid, and what he said probably ammounted to a poopy icebreaker.

In the industrial area where I work green boxes with the letters V and B on them are a form of currency.
BTW I'm friends with a girl who loves Transformers and was the victim of some improper conduct. I wont let to much information out as it really isn't my place to discuss it as I wasn't involved.

Are you sure? Oh, nevermind. I remember now that Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome hasn't happened yet. "Near Future" and all that jazz.

I have not been around too much lately. Been sort of busy with slag and such. So I just saw this thread.
Female Transfan here. Starscream Fangirl. Not sure what teir I am on by Pulsar's Definition. I have 46 Starscream toys, and A Decepticon Tattoo. Decepticon Insignia on my bedroom wall (painted very big) and Con insignias on anything else I can find. Just a bit insane

I wonder where I'm at on the Screamer Fangirl levels. I would love to see the rankings, that would sure be interesting. I probably would be on the lower levels, I would only get one Starscream toy or two, and I don't have any posters and whatnot in my room or anywhere else. I would love to draw him, if I could find some decent G1 pictures to practice from.

It's just occurred to me that we're probably lucky, as a fandom in general, that we have a sort of reversal of the usual trend of male characters attaching heaps of affection to a female character in the show. I mean, sure there's Arcee, but she doesn't get nearly the amount of love from the boys as Starscream, Megatron, Prime, Bumblebee, (heck I think I remember seeing a HUFFER fangirl once) etc get from the girls. As a result, while we do have girls who go "squee!" whenever Starscream flashes those big shiny optics, we're thankfully without the usual rampage of sad menfolk fawning over the latest female lead, top-heavy sidekick, or cold-hearted evil sex kitten.
Of course, I'm aware that no fandom is pure. Deep within the oily, dark passageways of the internet, there's Transformers fanwork that crosses the fine line of weird "silly" and weird "they don't even have those PARTS". It's nice though, that without digging that deep, the casual observer could mistake us all for normal, wholesome people.

Think about it: any girl that likes cars has a damn good chance of liking Transformers - especially if she's an action-movie type. My girlfriend used to not like Transformers before me. Hell - she used to not like men before me, either. For every ten transfans I meet, there's at least two or three women. Not too shabby.
