GoDaiKin and Chogokin!
So who are the Bandai Big Boy fans here!
I'm a decent Chogokin collector, but only buy the ones I like (unlike how in TFs I buy everything). My primary focus is late 70s (early 80's) Bandai/Popy figures.
In terms of GoDaiKins, I think I am only a few figures away from having all the DXs...VoltesV is my nemesis on e-bay now although I am not particularly interested in Tetsujin 28 (especially with the price tag he carries).

Getter, if you can find some pics of what you're looking for, I will be happy to check the local hobby shops for ya. These places have decent stuff at rock bottom prices!

AWESOME!
I'll put a list together. My grail right now is the Studio Half Eye Simple Change Getter Dragun...should be around 8000 Yen if you find it.

I might put a very small list for you together. If you can find it, do you take paypal?

I like any thing that transforms. A good bargain though is like Xabungle because you can get it for like $40 and it comes with a Gundam like model as well.

No luck with your fig, Getter. I need to learn more about other mecha. There are so many cool looking figures, but I don't know what they are.

I've got a fair number of SOC's - my current favourite is the Gunbuster, but that may change when the Ideon arrives next week.
I'd like a SHE Getter, but to be honest, for what they cost, they just aren't worth the cash to me. I'd much rather have the Aoshima New Century Gokin Getters (especially the sexy black version), especially since you could get all the variations and still have change left over!
I like some of the stuff from the 'Chogokin' line too, like Kiryu, Daiku Maryu Gaiking and the most excellent Souchaku Henshin figures.
I don't really do the retro Gokin stuff - purely down to a lack of funds more than anything else. I have to pick my purchases carefully, and I'd rather have the well articulated, show accurate, fully transformable stuff of today, than what came before.

I like some of the SOC mecha but I'm more into the transforming guys. I do have one question though. How are all the robots in the Soul of Chogokin line related? Were they all part of the same series on TV? This has always bothered me.

Firstly, many of the SOC figures are transformable - off the top of my head, Dancougar, Gunbuster, Leopardon, Combattler and Voltes all fit the bill.
In terms of how the figures are related, most of them aren't in a 'show' sense, they're largely from different series/universes (the exceptions being the likes of the Getters and Mazingers). The original unifying thread that first brought the line together was that the Soul of Chogokin was comprised of modern-day re-workings of released on Bandai's 'Chogokin' line (hence 'Soul of Chogokin'). Over time, this has expanded to include more modern mecha that didn't appear in the Chogokin line (like the Eva's and Gunbuster).
One of the great things about the line is that you never really know what's coming next - for a while, it was all 70's/80's anime mecha, then came some 90's mecha were released, then mecha from 70's tokatsu series appeared. I have to say, not everything released is to my taste, but that's cool, most of the stuffs expensive so it pays to be picky!

I know some of the Anime from the line is almost 30 years old. Has it even seen light of day in the US? Was I right when I saw some Getter Robo set the other day?

Some of the anime has - stuff like Getter Robo G, UFO Robo Grandizer & Gaiking were part of 'Force Five' in the early 80's.
There is a Getter Robo set, it's being reissued in a few months time as it happens.

I'm going to have to check that set out since I find that some early and later TF designs pull heavily from those guys. Plus your sometimes Avatar made me interested.

Ideon, isn't he like three vehicles that become a robot with a HUGE gun?

You Want To Talk Ancient Robo's, I Actually Have A Number Of The Original Shogun Warriors Figures From Around '78 (The Die-Cast Metal Ones).
Lessee, I Have Raydeen, Gaiking, Mazinga, Danguard Ace, And The Multicolored Helicopter That Reminds Me Of An Osprey (I Want to Say 'VariWing' Or 'Vari-Plane').
My GoDaiKens Are Daltanius, Combattra, A Small Transformable Dynaman, And The Original GoLion.
If Memory Serves Me, I Also Have A Daitarn 3 Figure (I Think It's From Clover)
If It Weren't For The Shoguns And My Micronaut Collection, I Would Have Never Had Any Interest In Robot Toys, And I Never Would Have Started Collecting Transformers...
Please Excuse The Way I Type, I Have Been Doing This For So Long, It Would Be Near Impossible To Retrain...

Somebody somewhere has to write the complete history of Transforming toys. It's a shame that there are a large number of people out there who think Optimus Prime started it all.
Anybody see the Revolvotech Dark Getter coming in Sept.? What's the deal with that?
