But I have to blame myself. That's what this thread is about, and I'm reading it. sigh...
Whats so shocking???
Well, you're entitled to your opinion. That's what this thread is about. Sooner or later something someone really likes is going to get completely trashed on.
I'm just saying, the Bond movies are all so different. Yeah, it's the same formula, but it's the longest running film series besides Tarzan, and that series didn't have a new entry every few years. Bond runs the full spectrum in quality. 40 years worth of different styles and trends. It's watching film evolve through history. Some are really, really bad, and some are downright awesome.
Case in point: Most people who like the series will agree that Moonraker is awful. The ending is just plain lame, and is made lamer by the fact that they had an actual NASA consultant on the film, and they thought they were making it realistic.
What people don't remember about that film is that it has by far the most impressive opening sequence of any movie. An f'ing skydive chase scene, and they really did it. That was all real, no special effects at all. It took 80 jumps, by the same stunt men, to get every shot. All real.
I can understand if the tongue in cheek nature of it all is not your bag. I personally think it's hilarious when he goes underwater, passes the camera underwater, and
adjusts his tie. But that's me.
I just think you're being way too harsh. It's not all Q gadgets and silly villains with metal teeth.
