Yea, I think you are missing the point here. There is NO official "Save Chad's collection" Charity. As the Founder, CEO and head of Slagacon, he has spent all of his own money trying to refund people who ordered the set. His money ran out, so he is selling the collection to continue reimbursing people.

Well, honestly, it's a moot discussion without knowing the facts, but.. if the kit basher lives outside of Chad's legal system, no "court case" will be fruitful.

If you had been following the developments, you would be aware that several fully assembled and colored pieces were made and shipped. Just not nearly enough. The cost of producing these types of complicated garage kits falls heavily on the material and equipment needed. It is not unreasonable to need the money up front to pay for the run. Even some of your popular 3rd party companies hold preorders for quite some time to pay for the manufacture of an item.

A "simple court case" I'm sure is not possible. If it was so simple, it would have most likely been pursued. Chad started and orchestrates Slagacon. With a newer convention, it needs nothing but positive feedback to ensure it's survival. As head of the convention, Chad has taken full responsibility of the situation and is doing everything in his power to correct it. It's a shame other companies' leaders don't do as much.

Bottom line is, Chad has done nothing but the utmost responsible things he can do. To associate his desire to protect and promote the convention for fans rather than maintain a toy collection as a bad thing is just plain ridiculous. If more people cared about the fandom more than their own self centered collections, this would be a better hobby.

Does it really matter if hes in another state or what have you? dont you americans have court summons?

all he has to do is report it to the police and give all the details and even if these guys who scamed him are in another state then those details should be passed onto the police in that area who can bring the guys in for questioning

fraud is fraud at the end of the day. You do a serious crime like steal someones money and run away.....yeah last time i checked that IS against the law

Ok friend, I know you want to believe this is an easily settled matter. But, you may have heard, manufacturing in the US is not-so-hot. It is unlikely that this kitbasher is in the US, or surely by now, someone would have driven to his house and beat the refunds out of him. If he lives in Toronto (Canada) a simple small-claims court filing would not be able to get him.

Plus, there is the issue of proving fraud. Perhaps this guy got the money without a signed contract that outlined the specifics. Perhaps this guy used an online name like... GetRightRobot or FrenzyRumble, as aliases and never divulged his real name or gave a false name. All speculation mind you. And who knows, perhaps a case can eventually be brought against him and Chad can recoup his losses. All speculation mind you.

The point is, he is making sacrifices for fans. It's a good thing.

THat's what most serious charaties do, they help people to be able to help themselves, the money you give to a charaty pays for all their expenses in doing so.


Besides, I've already told you what the word charity in this context means, charity as in donated money as in money you donate to his convention.

Chad has used up his convention and private funds to repay the pre-orders and to finance the legal action against the frauds, he has no money left.
That's why he's selling his collection.
If you don't like that you can donate money to him as an act of charity.
This charity will be used for the conventon by the name of Slagacon, which belongs to Chad and for which Chad is currently using all his private resaurces to save due to the convention budget being depleted.
Therefore by donating money out of an act of charity you are giving charity to Chad and his convention.

Court cases are expensive and take a long time, he has already stated that he's taken legal action against them, but that sort of thing takes time and a lot of money. Money he does not have.

Those threads chronicle their progress up-until they brake contact with the internet. In them they clearly state that it's them who's making these.
And this is not the first time this was supplied ether.

Both TGping and Kidbash DOCUMENTED the production of this set, from creation to first run versions. They where casting these by hand with resin.

Now tell me, who else could suddenly have stopped production on these and made a runner with the money other than TGping and kidbash the producers of the kit, MR Hasbro?

I'd just give up man. You can only educate those who are willing to listen.

I appreciate all the info and digging you have done. It really helps bring to light what has happened and who is responsible. Chad himself isn't going to come out and flame on any boards who the responsible parties are, it just isn't like him. But with that said, its not even necessary. He has given enough info to others (including me) to string it all together combined with what is already easily researchable through the net.

Hope to see plenty of people at this years Slagacon, Chad is so dedicated that he told me last night that he is already working on next years guest list and is contacting agents! Heres to many more Slagacons!
