Peaugh is doing a service to the fandom. As he shows buyers or fans how to transform these toys. Shows off scales, Articulation, gimmicks and so on.

Some need to be thankful for what is given instead of always complaining and be so angry all the time. Nobody is entitled to anything. Making demands when someone is doing reviews for free just seems selfish.

Nope, not taking an issue with the "mistransformations". Just take a look at the main thread where we keep on discovering new feature/ things about our Transformers toys despite having the manual.

So in the end, maybe just take 50% of the review as gospel truth and the other 50% as poppycock.

If the review in your gut feel seems to be well made and the author has a good record, then go for it.

Again, the disadvantage with 3rd party products is that it is kind of a pain to replace lemons.

Peaugh is doing a service to himself. He is getting free toys as payment for his reviews. They are not doing it for "free" as you claim. Same thing as all sponsered reviewers. That's why it's called being sponsered.

Peaugh comes across as a guy who really likes his toys. The downside, however, is that he may not be critical enough. I'll give you guys that, at least.

After reading this thread. All the examples presented don't prove the case that these sponsored video review guys are corrupt.

Honestly all i'm reading is built up jealousy, envying and begrudging that these video reviews guys are getting free toys and someone is not getting anything free.

i'm also seeing built up jealousy that these video reviews guys are well liked in the fandom and have a huge following.

Also see some extreme paronia in this thread. That blames these video reviews guys for tricking and spitefully deceiving watchers to buy inferior toys.

You did noticed that too right? Anyways, good that we put this out of our chest.X may amp it to the next level, then again that's X for you. So as I posted in 2 posts above, take the reviews 50% 50%.

You can dicern it yourself if one of them is holding back on an info just ignore his reviews. The powers is ours with one click of a keyboard.

It's not about jealousy or paranoia, it's about integrity, Peaugh produces high quality video reviews of figures, he is sponsored by major transformers stockists, therfore people expect a certain amount of professionality. I refer you to the definition of a review:

"To examine with an eye to criticism or correction"

Peaughs "reviews" simply do not meet this criteria. As for you suggestion that Sponsored reviewers are doing videos for free and we should be greatful instead of what we get, well X may be a bit of a fuse lighter but he is correct in saying that Peaugh gets a lot of figures free by way of payment. You seem to want to defend Peaugh, and that's fine, but if you really want to defend him then find a sponsored video of a figure he gives a negative review for.

Video watchers are paying nothing to watch these videos. So they have no rights to demand things.

Blaming the video guy for tricking you into buying inferior toys is the definition of paranoia.

No paranoia is a psychiatric condition where an individual holds a false belief that an individual or group is trying to harm or discredit them (trust me on this one I'm a mental health nurse). False beliefs are categorised by a lack of evidence, Peaughs Springer doesn't tab together in car mode, yet he fails to mention it FACT, the Boosticus set is mistransformed therfore giving a false representation of the figures size FACT, Peaugh shows Kronos in jet mode and the feet are clearly mistransformed yet he fails to mention this in the review, therefore ignoring the most common issue with the figure FACT.

Yes he is only human and is not infallible, the point is his poor reviews are not isolated, they are too consistent to be put down to him having a off day as it were.

It is our buisness as viewers as the fact that he receives the figures free wil create bias (intentional or not) therefore colouring the outcome of the review.

I find it hilarious that you automatically paints whoever that seems to not be in camp Peaugh as "being jealous and paranoid". Aren't you throwing wild accusations that can't be proven yourself?

What you will find is evidence that Peaugh is a poor reviewer that fails to highlight obvious and common flaws in the figures he reviews (for whatever reason) resulting in a false representation of the figure, I have not said anything that cannot be substantiated by the links provided. Also you are yet to find a review where Peaugh provides a negative review for a figure

Just for fun I thought I would bring up a blast from the past. Anyone remember the stripping gears on TFC Heavy Labor’s hips ?

Our good friend Peaugh blew it off as being “squeaky hips” and failed to tell us that the “squeaking” was the sound of stripping gears. (7:40 on the video) As you can hear the sounds of him stripping the gears on his own figure, he states: “probably there’s fixes for that, so well worry about that later”. Spoken like a true salesman.



On his review of the next figure in the line (Structor) he doesn't elaborate very much either. When Structor’s ratchets started clicking, he only mentioned that they fixed the problem that had occurred in Heavy Labor and Structor doesn't have it. He never mentioned anything on Heavy Labor as being defective, nor did he mention or show the free hip fix part that came with Structor. He even bragged at the beginning of the video how he loved Heavy Labor even though others had issues with the design.(0.48 in the video)



I would think as a sponsored TF Source reviewer, he would disclose such information with us so we could make a sound decision on whether to buy or not ?

why are we still running on assumptions that they get free toys? im willing to bet that the only a handful have been free, and came directly from manufacturers.

unless everything is actually free, show some proof.

You do know what the term "sponsored" means ? Unless EVERY sponsored reviewer is best friends or family of an online retailer, why do they all have a plug on their videos ? Many have admitted that the figures show up unexpectedly at their door. Unless this group of mostly caucasian and afro american reviewers speak Chinese, its more likely tha5they benefit from their sponsors, hence the plug. You dont see any visual 3rd party plugs on their videos do you ? I dont. I just see visual plugs for BBTS and TF Source along with a couple smaller online retailers.

As Shajaki said, it is implied by the reviewers themselves that the 'free' figures that show up 'unexpectedly' on 'doorsteps' come directly from the manufacturers. A lot of these reviews don't even have plugs.

And as I've said before, there are ways to be compensated other than 'free toys'.

That string counts the clicks on Peaugh's links and gauge how much traffic Peaugh generates. Advanced analytics programs will also count how many of those initial clicks end in a purchase.

I would say business-saavy sites like BBTS and TFsource compensate sponsored reviewers based on how much traffic and how many conversions (i.e. sales) come from Peaugh's reviews. Whether that's a discount on the site, or a direct payment, is another question entirely. But it's more likely these sites reward reviewers based on performance, rather than simply giving out 'free toys'.

I was once paid to put a link on my site. I don't see why they'd be paid in anything other than money. It's probably not even a lot of money. Reviewing isn't a day job.

I said earlier: what BBTS gets are hits and word-of-mouth. It doesn't have to have anything to do with the sale of one particular toy. With 3rd parties in particular, they're so expensive I doubt a store like BBTS makes THAT much on them. Not in relation to other popular brands, anyway.

Or paid in discounts? The number of hits to the site or youtube (click baiting is now more or less a norm) is the way of business this day and age.

Just your common sense when shifitng through the garbage and the actual stuff.

Getting paid in toys? Getting paid in discounts? Why is it so unbelievable that TFSource or BBTS would pay in cold, hard, cash?
