I got into Collecting when R.I.D. came onto the scene. So i never got any Beastwars figures until recently. When I've Started to pick up a few.

The most recent one is this Cheetas.
Image

I was impressed, first by the packaging,. Its collector friendly. It slides smoothly out of the box. has a plastic tray in which the figure and accessories fit in, and into which they can be placed back in for storage.

Second point was the Plastic quality of the figure. It just feels so thick and full. Its a very different type of quality of plastic. Leagues better than Hasbro's in my experience.

I'm very impressed with the figure also. Highly poseable. lost of articulation.

So I'm really satisfied with the purchase for 12.99 from BBTS + shipping.

Now my question , If you are still awake after reading all that: Which release is this Cheetas from? is it the Original release, or maybe a newer re-issue? the 10th anniv? Since I can;t read what it says on the box. I did get the part about being 100% CG accurate. Which i think he is.

I'll take some pictures, out of the box later.

EDIT: Here are the Pics:

Interesting to note, is it features 3 combiners: Center Stage: God Neptune.

To the left Tripledacus and to the right Magnaboss.

That looks like a recent reissue of Cheetor. It's not the DVD reissue though. I'm guessing it came out originally around the time the 10th anniversary figures came out, judgin by the box.

Thanx,

The only date I could find, is in the picture, it says Takara 1995. But I guess that's just referring to the original patent date or something.

i think this is the original production run of Takara Cheetas, as the more recent reissue had a different box and came with the DVD, plus the paint's a lot more different.

First Run? MISB? for 12 bucks from BBTS? Wow, i guess I got real lucky then.

I'll take some pics, and post them up later. So you can see all angles of the box, and contents.

BBTS recently got in a huge amount of Jap beasties. I ordered Corhada dor the same price, and I'm thinking about Bighorn next. Maybe Quickstrike or Stampy, which are each $9 + tax.

the robot mode is great. It really evokes the old Beast Wars show.

nice find man. and yeah, Takara always made the best packaging out there, not much in terms of visual style, but much more on functionality and easy storage of figures.

The Hasbro version on Card, is on BBTS for 60.00.

Considering I got this one (Takara version, in outstanding collector friendly box) for 12.00. I think 60.00 is kind of steep.

Personally, the cream Tigatron is more appealing than the pure white one. That and it's more show accurate... I think.

I love everything about this mold except for two things.
1) The head (Blargh!)
2) the front animal legs have no articulation and don't fold in a nice X like the show.

(I guess I'm gonna have to go Shadow Panther/10th Takara Cheetor hunting now, thanks! 8) )

1. Which head Cheetah or Robot? or Mutant? I dislike the Mutant Head. But the robot and tiger heads are pretty good.

2. Agreed. Since they really do nothing in robot mode, they could have given the front paws and arms a little more articulation without affecting the robot mode. They could have made the shoulder blades become shoulder pads for the robot if they really wanted too.

I actually like the mutant head, there's something about the robot head that really Irks me.

I think a small ball joint instead of a hinge might have worked nicely. (Then a few tabs to secure it in beast mode.) Or it might, haven't checked that joint recently.

Probably a hinge on the elbow so it could bend and be posed.

However with all that said, I'm still amazed at the quality of the figure. And am totally pleased with the purchase.

And of course Waspinator now has someone to battle.

:APPLAUSE:

You don't know what you've been missing. Beast Wars was seriously the best line hands down in terms of playability, posability, displayability, and articulation. Now you just have to find the DVDs. You will never appreciate G1 the same way again after watching it.

One of my favorites is Depth charge. It is one of the only transformers with a flat alt mode that actually gets flat in alt mode, and the robot mode has fantastic weapons, articulation, proportions and detailing.

And definitely check out the combiners. Thew blow all other combiners away. They're complex, they fit together well and don't fall apart, and they just look like a single robot, rather than five stuck together.

Once you get into this line you'll be hooked. It is truly the pinnacle of the franchise. But stay away from the sequel, Beast Machines

course the main reason they don't look like 5 bots stuck together is because they're only3 bots stuck together. still look cool mind you.

BW got me back into TFs after seeing how cool some of the toys were (a family friend had a few) and it didn't take me long before I resigned myself to collecting again. Now i have more post-BW toys than pre-BW toys, or even G1.[/b]
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

What figure was it that convinced you that BW was cool? For me it was the Optimus Primal/Megatron 2-pack. My first Transformers. (Is overcome by nostalgia.)

I did watch some episodes of Beastwars, not all of them. but back then I wasn't into collecting yet. So it just never occurred to me they could be this good.

I've recently been watching Beast Machines online, and it piqued my interest, and got me kinda itchy to buy some figs. So while looking for Jetstorm, which I know bears no resemblance to the CGI model, I found this Cheetor on BBTS. Thought it was nice, and cheap enough, and I really did not like his Beast Machines appearance, so thought this would make a suitable replacement. Wow was I ever impressed. Not that Jetstorm is a Bad figure, but Cheetor is just so much more in both modes. its outstanding.

So now, i'm hooked. I'm looking into Beast Convoy as my next BW purchase.

I'm not sure I like Rhinox's beast mode, maybe if I can find Dinotbot. Also any Predacon that's worth it, besides Waspinator which I already have?. Although I've been meaning to get A Megatron also. Maybe i'll get the double pack at BBTS. Primal and Megs Takara re-issue for 50 bucks i think it was.

In any case, He turned out to be one of my better purchases.
