How do you guys make your Leader Prime's details stand out?
Leader Prime 2007: are there any painting techniques that you have used on him to make him shinier, or more battle-worn? Have you retouched/paint washed his gun or anything? If you have post ideas here. If you don't think it's a good idea post here as to reason why.
I personally am wary of doing anything. Leader Prime is my favourite figure and I don't want to screw him up (not that I have screwed up with blackwashing Vector Prime and Blackout).

I wouldn't do anything at all. I like my TFs as they are, and I don't like to add paint details to them, unless I had another one to keep 'normal'.
Good luck trying to make your favorite figure better though.

Fair deal.
No way am I buying another Leader Prime to keep 'normal'.

Understandable, prices are crazy for the leader class size figures, which in my opinion have been really poor throughout the recent series.
But there is another version coming out, the 'Nightwatch Prime' (leader class), which is a repaint of leader movie Prime. Maybe when you get that you can have your 'normal' version, sort of...
This one may end up sitting on shelves, so you could possibly pick it up cheaply later on...

Are you implying the Leader Prime 2007 was horrible? I thought he was a pretty superb figure. And I don't have Galaxy Convoy, but just from looking at the photos it seems like he has one heck of a play value, even more so than guys like Primus, Galvatron and Metroplex.
What other recent Leader class figures were horrible? I will agree completely if you list 2007 Megatron as one of them. I hope they release a repaint/total remake of it sometime; or I'm never getting a Megatron.

I second that... Leader Prime is easily the best one out there right now.. Leader Megatron on the other hand, ehhh... I do like the voyager version better though... Don't like the ice details, but he is cheaper....

Leader Prime rocks, and until Megatron gets either a repainted Ultra size figure or a remake of the Leader class, I'm not getting him.

Leader Prime is fine, certainly not among my favorite TFs of any kind, but I could see how he could be fun for many. My comment was about some of the past figures...

Leader Prime rox! certainly among my fav of primes. The only thing i disliked about the toy was the dull gray plastic they used. so i thought that it might look a little better after i make it a chromish silver with ffloorwax on top. futurefloorwax also made my other movie figs a lot shinier /w a few apps and enriches their colors as well as masking some minor scratches.
here's some pics of my silver optimus, i haven't finished the smoke stakes yet.

Fantastic job, specially the last picture and the gun! What products did you use again?

i basically took apart the joints, cleaned them with rubbing alcohol and then applied model primer(basically a flat coat of white that evens out any topcoat you paint on later) on the gray parts with a cheapo paintbrush, like the ones that come with testor's kits
then i applied some tamiya acrylic chrome-silver on the pieces with an airbrush and painted the small parts with the paintbrush. at last i soaked the pieces in a cup of futurefloorwax (gives the plastic a nice shine, brings out the colors and make old toys look new. it looks awesome on alternators) and let dry.

Superb work! If i could afford to buy two leader primes, i would do the same.

Excellent retouching with the paint Xeltech!
Its amazing what one single change of colour can do to a figure, that Silver makes Leader Prime look must nicer, If he looked like that out of the box, I would have purchased one straight away.
And I see Raymond101 has caught the repainting bug. Any chance of pics of your Vector Prime? Or are they already here somewhere and I have not seen them?
