Asphalt wrote:where's it say it's a classics line bot? Maybe I am just missing it but the others are from the Dark nebulan fleet (nod to the headmaster I guess) and apocolypse planet. Cybertron line.
First, it's NEBULA Dark Fleet, not Nebulon. Second, it does say that it's G1 in the picture, and there's also a Classics Megatron concept design pictured there too. Perhaps they intended him to be a different character and that design was originally meant for Cybertron, but I doubt it.
I'm also pretty sure they stated at the convention that he was intended for the classics line.

As dor the rest of the stuff ) the Apocalypse Planet and all, it looks like mood boards of a sort - pitching the idea of the potential planets before fully committing to them. Most of the images on them look like they're anime mechs and random vehicle designs.

I do not think there will be any more classics. The line has been "no rain checks" at kmart - that normally means a very short life span and that it is not orderable. Hasbro just gave us what we want to get a garanteed buck in the gap.
I love classics and would buy every character from g1 if made but then what? If we keep pushing Hasbro to make more of the same then Transformers will die. The best thing would be a clean start with new characters and a new one episode-one plot cartoon. If they make one more series like energon/cybertron I will be out of the market. The cartoon i most like today is TMNT, and thats because of the format of the stories. Every episode has its own story and the action supports the story and is not "the" story. Thats how it was with G1. I doubt my son will remember transformers the way I do. We watch all the cartoons together and both know how unrealistic it is when for example megatron summons power from nowhere to battle starscream or primus. Cybertron was more like dragon ball z.

actually most retailers hate giving out rainchecks for smaller items such as toys so that could also be the reason

I work for another part of the company that owns KMart Aus and we give rainchecks for anything normally - even of very small value. Its a way of diverting customer complaints/dissatisfaction because we know we have a hard time living up to our advertised items. From my experience the only time we do not give rainchecks is when the entire quantity of a particular line has already been bought and allocated to stores. I deal with a number of toy lines and most of the time when I receive stock as an allocation it will never become orderable after that time. Having said that, I don't think ordering for toys is done at the store level in KMart aus anyway, but the rainchecks would work the same.
KMart brand in Australia is being fazed out and in the area I work there is a good chance that in a couple of years I could end up running the toy section for what will have been the KMart in the building I work in

That's Ramble/Scrapmetal on the far right, so at least one of them did get produced.
I'm guessing some of the other toys that aren't from the four main planet schemes (Soundwave, Noisemaze/Sideways, Cybertron planets, etc) are from the aborted themes as well. They're not in the pictures though, so there's no way to tell.

It might be that your store is not ordering anymore classics possibly because they are not selling, I worked in the toy section of K-mart in 2000 and when a brand of toys didn't sell they stop ordering them and don't take rain checks on them because they don't plan on more coming in stock to honor the rain checks.
I can tell you this, the line isn't ending as other TF's are being considered for Classic's treatment wave 3. Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Dirge, Another tripple changer (Unknown at this time.... Actually I forgot what the name was),
I have seen designs for what looks Vans for Ironhide/Ratchet and Rachet has a stencled "Medical Supply" on the sides of his vehicle mode and inside it has a repair bay for Rachet and a missile launcher for Ironhide.
as well as Insecticon Bombshell.
Cosmos won't be made as it's been said that Hasbro doesn't want to sell a transforming disc...But hasbro has done things they claim they wont so who knows...

I'll do some diggin but I do remember clearly Hasbro saying that after all of the Movie Merchandising dies down that they MAY come back to the classics line. I just don't remember where I read it. Plus what kind of figures will they do with the new Cartoon Network cartoon? This is another thing that Hasbro will have to consider. I would have much rather had that Cosmos than the Mirage. I just didn't dig Classics Mirage at all.
PS...in resonse to the Harmony Gold comment above. I TOTALLY agree with ya there!
