Inauguration of President Barack Obama

Well there's a lot ahead of him, and us. There won't be a perfect, flawless way to fix everything, and the problems promise to get worse. We all have to stand strong behind our new president, and hope and pray for his leadership in the times ahead. It certainly is a momentous occasion, now let's go forward and change America.

Wait, are you talking about George W. Bush? Because he wasn't a Senator.
And GW is constantly bashed so using his short comings isn't exactly a strong argument either.
Still I'd gladly take another 20 years of GW over 4 years of Obama.

overly involved? It is one thread.
Just a FYI, this is the General Discussion area, where pretty much anything can be discussed. Don't get pissy because the Philosophers forum is closed and take it out here.
Attitudes like this will not sway the thoughts of possibly bringing that section back either.
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

I don't think Bush would survive even another four years - the president's office has killed other presidents in the past. FDR had four terms, and he died very early in his fourth term.
Say what you will of Bush, but you have to admit he was a very congenial man with a sense of humor. Whether or not he was a good president - that, I'm sure, will be debated for a while in the near future.

I wonder, though. Did a picture of George W. Bush appear on the banner of this site when he was sworn in? This site was around, right?
Just curious...

If it was around, I doubt there was a picture of Bush. I bet part of the reason Obama is up there is because he's from Illinois where Seibertron lives

I doubt it, but I've been wrong before.
I do recognize the picture as being from the IDW comic that circulated about him and McCain during the elections last year.

Judging by Ryan's joined date, it came online in mid-late 2001. So no, it wouldn't have.

I wish him the best in his new position.
Yep, it's a great moment in time but this president, as with all that came before him, will be judged on his accomplishments from this day forward. He hasn't saved the world quiet yet but despite not voting for him, I will most certainly support him and his efforts to do so. Good luck Mr. President.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm just all about the equality, I guess.

I have yet to see a George W. Bush comic book, though.

I'm always in awe of our political process, so this is indeed a great day! ...but I'm also always a little wary of someone who receives god-like status for whatever reason (or none at all). It just makes me nervous...
I'll gladly remain hopeful for the future of the country, though!

That is your opinion.
Society sees things differently most of the time.
I know plenty that failed because society did not treat them as equal. They tried for the "American dream" and because of how society treated them they were not allowed to succeed.

I have got to agree.. this guy comes from a corrupt political system in Illinois.. he has friends who are admitted terrorists and a preacher who hates America. Some are so quick to blame the recession on Bush but fail to look into the root cause which began with Clinton and was brought to new levels these past two years with the Democrat held congress.
Alas.. he our president and he has my respect, and I hope that he will do what is best for our country.

to clarify my original statement,
Obama has repeatedly stated that the Constitution is flawed in the sense that it hinders and limits the power of the Gov't... "It says what the Gov't can't do"
The Founding Fathers and the framers of the Constitution wrote it that way specifically to hamper 'big government" from forming after seeing how a gov't running everything (IE England) was more harmful than good.
What Pres. Obama has stated is essentially the The Founding Fathers were wrong in their reasoning.
