Hey everyone! Before I begin, apologies if this has been asked a million times...

I've never been much of a Comics enthusiast, but it seems like the IDW Continuity is the place to be right now for older fans. I was hoping someone could offer advice as to where I should start (I've been out of the loop for some time).

If it's at all helpful, I'd prefer something that's like classic Autobots Vs Decepticons stuff. Also, something without a lot of political undertones would be appreciated.

But hey, any suggestions you have are appreciated! Thanks in advance!

It definitely sounds like Phase 1 is where you want to start. Even though Phase 2 is where the comics started getting real critical praise.

Either Spotlight: Shockwave and then Infiltration or Death of Optimus Prime and MTMtE/RiD, depending on how far back you're willing to read.

I know the hardcovers can seem pricey, but that's 16 issues at once in a nice hardbound book with the trade paperback edits for typos and such (mostly) included, plus it's less to store. Retail price on those on their own would have been $64.

If you want to go digital, that's an option but I think it's trade paperback volume sized chunks required. Infiltration would be what started the current continuity back in 2005: https://m.comixology.com/Transformers-I ... eries/6158

I have a somewhat related question. I have been trying to re-read the MTMTE TPBs and find myself burned out already. Would it be better if I alternate between those and the ex-RiD TPBs? Or would that convolute the flow of both stories too much?

Based on my experiences with the Phase 2 hardcover collections, it won't. The run right around the 2012 Annuals is especially great upon re-read when you mix em up a bit.

As someone who read the trades by going back and forth between MTMTE and RID, I think it works rather well.

Okay, thanks guys. I will start doing that. I have been having trouble continuing. And I have yet to read the Windblade books as well and I have been meaning to add them as well.
