This may sound silly, so if it is, overlook it, but uh...
We all know applied heat will make the rubbery plastic (PVC, correct?) even more pliable.
Well, what if you heat it up, get it nice and dangly soft or whatever, straighten it out (or whatever you need it to do) and then promptly freeze it?
Wouldn't that cause some kind of chemical change to harden it?
If that doesn't work, would a paint or clear cost help stiffen it?

Harden it? That would make it so brittle it would shatter! Hardening by that method only works in metals. And clear coating wouldn't help straighten it out or make it really any firmer. I understand were you're coming from but the chemistry won't back it up.

About the only way to firm it up would be to straighten it all the way first, then find a way to drill a small hole all the way through, and stick a stiff wire (like, say, 24 guage galvanized steel) down the middle, and paint over the ends of the wire. And since most pin vice drills I know of have bits no longer than an inch to an inchand a half, it doesn't look likely for either the barrel/katana or for Vector Prime's sword, but possibly for the machinegun or MAYBE for the wakazashi.
